Tony Armour Posted July 22, 2016 Report Posted July 22, 2016 At KDNN See you Saturday!! Hey all! Come out on Saturday from 11am to 2pm for Charlie Ross's famous BBQ lunch! This will be our first BBQ Fly-In of the summer so don't miss it! It's supposed to be very hot on Saturday but don't worry, we will be inside in the air conditioning. As always, any help from our local PAD setting up tables and chairs, marshalling planes in, or just meeting and greeting folks as they come in is always much appreciated. Also, if you want to bring any extra sides or deserts feel free to do so as well. Thanks and we look forward to seeing you this Saturday! Best, Andrew Wiersma Airport Manager Dalton Municipal Airport
AaronDC8402 Posted July 22, 2016 Report Posted July 22, 2016 If I weren't planning to fly to Chicago this evening, I'd be there. I usually don't miss an opportunity involving BBQ. 1
Hank Posted July 22, 2016 Report Posted July 22, 2016 Dalton has good BBQ too. May have to rethink the IMC Club meeting in Lower Alabama tomorrow morning.
AaronDC8402 Posted July 22, 2016 Report Posted July 22, 2016 Is there a BBQ restaurant there on the field at Dalton? Or is this a catered event?
Tony Armour Posted July 22, 2016 Author Report Posted July 22, 2016 Charlie (the cook) works at the FBO, which is city owned. I'm not sure if Charlie is taking care of the costs or the FBO/city. My hanger is the first building to the west and faces the FBO. I'll be in North Carolina in the morning tailwheel training but should be (flying) back during lunch hours.
kris_adams Posted July 22, 2016 Report Posted July 22, 2016 I'm hoping to be there unless the wife ends up wanting to go to florida (which I had offered before I heard of this). 1
Mooneymite Posted July 23, 2016 Report Posted July 23, 2016 (edited) I may try to slip out of my Saturday chores and fly over the top of ATL today. Hopefully see you there. Edited July 23, 2016 by Mooneymite
Tony Armour Posted July 27, 2016 Author Report Posted July 27, 2016 I understand a couple Mooney's showed up. Sorry I missed them. Didn't get back until 2pm from some training. In my initial post I said "free" although as I found out when I got back there was a donation bucket. If you came from my post and made a donation, I would like to reimburse you and offer my apologies. Message me your paypal please. I'll know better next time. thanks

kris_adams Posted July 29, 2016 Report Posted July 29, 2016 Hi Tony, I managed to snag my finger in a log splitter Saturday morning before I headed to the airport so I wasn't able to attend. I'll be taking 79H up to Joey in a couple weeks. I'll keep my eyes out for you when I'm there.

Only one other Mooney showed up. He was from FTY, but not a Mooneyspaceman. He was fixin' to leave as I was arriving, so I didn't get his name, or N#. However, there was a good showing of "others". Quite a few tail draggers and a few experimentals. There were also a few locals who drove in. All seemed to be really nice folk. There's always been a "donation jar" for these events, though they don't put any emphasis on it. It doesn't seem out of line at all. After all, there is no free lunch! It's not the donation jar I want reimbursement for, it's the $150 worth of avgas! With the exception of the rain squall north of RYY, it was a nice flight up and back over ATL. Tony Armour Posted August 2, 2016 Author Report Posted August 2, 2016 $150 ? We're you flying a Bravo ? Haha Sorry I missed you. I was doing tailwheel training and I must not be as smart or capable as I tell my wife (getting my butt kicked) I had BBQ but it was 2pm.

Oh sorry about that.....if you didn't want to come up a simple no would have sufficed...no need for blood ;-) keep me updated when you are coming. You have a ride back home ?
kris_adams Posted August 2, 2016 Report Posted August 2, 2016 I'm hoping to wait for it while he works on it. I still don't have it scheduled yet though. Thanks for the offer though!
