Go direct.  Computer traffic modeling.  Keep in contact with ATC.  ADSB out and in.  Shorter distances.  Digital equipment.  Lower cost. Save time. Save man hours.

in my example, a short 54 NM trip I tried to file and go direct which would avoid busy airspaces an arrival corridors, but the system says to go to the busy areas, go thru the sector gates and comply with the LOA. We spend hours planning flights, using all available information to avoid wx, TFR's etc and an LOA will trump our efforts in short order. My apologies for the tread creep and for setting off a nerve here.

Modernization is a neccesary change.  It is going to be uncomfortable. It will have opportunistic criminals involved as well.  The FAA is not alone.  The FDA and the Pharma business have been trying to track products from manufacturing through distribution using 2D barcodes and RFID amongst others.  There are truckloads of criminal entities in that market as well.

All of the jobs lost at the hand labor end will be moved over to higher technology type jobs.

My loss of faith for the old system comes from not being able to easily get into the IFR system from an uncontrolled field outside NYC.  Having the call placed on hold with the engine running and waiting 15 minutes. Three other people in the plane don't understand what is going on. Follow that up with a change in the clearance while airborn...

The cell phone delivering the clearance was a big step forward.  Connecting this to a panel mounted WAAS GPS is another giant step forward.

Modern communication allows people with similar needs to discuss similar challenges in a near real time way.  We have been able to discuss the best practices of getting clearances for flying through the toughest spots.

Change is coming.  Most of it is good. All of it is going to cost more than I want to spend.

Best regards,

I think we both want the same thing. Tell us where you plan on sending us and we can plan accordingly. There has to be a formula, I can't believe this to be that random.

Try tracking a single tablet being shipped across the globe and attaching it's complete manufacturing history while at the same time maintaining the privacy of the end user.
