gofast Posted October 18, 2010 Report Posted October 18, 2010 I've been having some intermittant weirdness on the TACH/MP/EGT/CHT/OP/OT cluster in the Eagle. Specifically, the RPM will vary in unison, both analog and digital. The CHT will occasionally jump off the scale then return to normal, (after sending my pulse into orbit). When I saw a digital reading of 1780' CHT and didn't see molten metal streaming by the windows I figured it was an erroneous indication. Finally, my OT is now intermittantly wandering. I've chased connectors and probes. I guess it's time to bench check the box. Anyone else had Moritz problems or experiences to share?
N9937c Posted October 19, 2010 Report Posted October 19, 2010 I have seen them act up after sitting on the ramp and getting real hot. larry
carusoam Posted October 19, 2010 Report Posted October 19, 2010 Note: The "analog" indicator and the digital readout are from the same source. If the digital readout is weird, the needle will point to the same weird number. The needle is attached to a digital driver. Essentially they are two presentations of the same number. The Ovation has a digital RPM gauge with "analog" display. The needle moves in clicks of about 20 rpm. -a-

N513ZM Posted November 4, 2010 Report Posted November 4, 2010 This sounds like a bad wire to the sender - I have had the RPM gauge oscillate and go way high several times and each time it turned out to be a broken wire at a connector behind the oil cooler. Last fixed just yesterday with new connector and some silicone to keep things from vibrating loose again. I would imagine you have a similar problem. Mike N513ZM M20R
thinwing Posted November 4, 2010 Report Posted November 4, 2010 Because you are having multple issues with various readouts,..I think you have a ground wire issue to the moritz cluster it self...check multiplug located behind panel right side..kelly
