rbridges Posted January 13, 2016 Report Posted January 13, 2016 the airport manager emailed me. She said insurance totaled it and was more than likely going to auction it. Just an FYI if this interests anyone. I don't know what happened, but I looked at the plane, and I don't see signs of a gear up landing. I'm assuming the prop hit something while on the ground. N6631U is the number. edit--I do know it was a prop strike Quote
1964-M20E Posted January 13, 2016 Report Posted January 13, 2016 The D model isn't that the fixed gear version? Has it been converted to retract? Quote
Hank Posted January 13, 2016 Report Posted January 13, 2016 There are only three D models left with fixed gear. At least one owner is on this board. Odds are not favorable for this to be one of them. Quote
rbridges Posted January 13, 2016 Author Report Posted January 13, 2016 The D model isn't that the fixed gear version? Has it been converted to retract? I think it's been converted. I spoke with the owner when he first got it, but that's probably been 3-4 months. Quote

Ok , I don't fully comprehend this but it appears we started a fund for westbrookgolfer Ok I have a $100 bill too, I'll throw in to help a flyer get this plane together. carl Quote
Yetti Posted January 14, 2016 Report Posted January 14, 2016 Why can't these deals be in Texas. Does an engine fit in a Mooney or do you have to fly it down in a Maule? Quote
kmyfm20s Posted January 14, 2016 Report Posted January 14, 2016 Instead of swapping the wing just swap the data plate and be done with it! Quote

DXB Posted January 14, 2016 Report Posted January 14, 2016 Nice look in' D/C. Feel bad for the owner- I always worry I'm just one pothole away from this situation. Quote

kerry Posted January 14, 2016 Report Posted January 14, 2016 It's fast too. http://flightaware.com/live/flight/N6631U/history/20150125/1519Z/KEDN/KPXE/tracklog Quote
Hank Posted January 14, 2016 Report Posted January 14, 2016 Now we know what happened to the engine . . . Ain't no 180hp Mooney going that fast without a really nice tailwind. I've done it exactly twice in eight and a half years. But it sure is nice looking at the GS and seeing numbers above 180 knots! Heck, I like seeing anything above 150, and get positively gleeful at 160! Quote
BDPetersen Posted January 14, 2016 Report Posted January 14, 2016 What version of cowling mod would that be? Quote
1964-M20E Posted January 14, 2016 Report Posted January 14, 2016 Nice looking plane would be a shame to scrap it over an engine and prop. Quote

Raptor05121 Posted January 15, 2016 Report Posted January 15, 2016 Its a shame. There are less than 100 D/Cs left out there. Quote

Raptor05121 Posted January 16, 2016 Report Posted January 16, 2016 Yup. Only 103 left with an airworthy registration status. I'm sure less than 90 are still "flying". Quote
