I'm trying to record in-flight audio using a digital recorder but I'm getting a strong engine sound in the recording.

Has anyone tried an attenuator for their recordings?

what are you using and how are you setting it up? I use a SONY recorder that I plug into the headphone jack along with my headset using an inexpensive splitter and adapter and get very clear audio.

I think I may have figured it out.  There is an input setting and I think it was on the lower powered setting.  I'm waiting for an opportunity to try it out.

It is a Sony recorder.

That sounds like it might be it. There is an input selection. If we have the same SONY, it's a "Scene" selection.

It's an ICD PX440.

There is a recording filter with high am low cut.

It has an input mode.  I had it on MIC In but I'll try it on Audio In.

I will be trying it out again Thursday.
