DaveAnderson Posted November 25, 2015 Report Posted November 25, 2015 A couple weeks ago, I was going through some bouncy weather and the autopilot turned off. I messed around with it for a bit on the ground and found that if I hold the switch in the on position, it works and all functions are normal. Problem is that as soon as I engage any of the modes and turn it on, it gives me a single beep and shuts off. Possible wire issue in the control wheel steering disengage button, or maybe something in the connection in the back? Seems to me that it's working, but thinks I'm manually disengaging it somewhere just wanted to get some feedback before I took it to a shop. Thanks! david. Quote
M20Kid Posted November 30, 2015 Report Posted November 30, 2015 If it only works when you hold the switch in the UP position, there's a chance the plate came off the back of the switch. The KFC 200 engage switch is held in place by an electromagnet. If the plate comes off the back of the switch, there's nothing for the magnet to hold and the switch will not stay engaged. All modes will work if you want to hold the switch but otherwise it will not stay On. I understand some have glued the plate back on the switch but it's made to float. Autopilot Central replaced mine for a couple of hundred bucks. The switch is pretty easy to remove and you can visually check if the plate is still attached or not. Quote
DaveAnderson Posted November 30, 2015 Author Report Posted November 30, 2015 Thanks, that was very helpful... Also, never heard of Autopilot Central either (no need up until now I suppose), so thank you for that too. Maybe i can "get out the credit card" to buy lunch while checking things out. David Quote

David Users of the King systems are very fortunate to have Autopilot Central and Mid-Continent Instruments around to repair them. Very fortunate. Quote
