Brandontwalker
I am searching for two transistors to use on the glareshield dimmer. The part is a Delco 2N3079. I have scoured the internet and have been unable to find a replacement. Does anyone know of a supplier that carries these, or of an alternate part number that can be used as a replacement? flyboy0681
The transistors in our dimmer bit the bullet and we landed up replacing it with a used unit. Damage: $
Sqrtree
Check with American Microsemiconductor, Inc. Their website shows stock but may have to call.
Brandontwalker
I will check with American. $450 is a bit more of a tab than I was looking at to get the lights to dim again...

jetdriven
we used these and soldered them to the wires, and screwed them to the metal inside as a heat sink. http://www.mouser.com/ProductDetail/ON-Semiconductor/MJH11020G/?qs=%2fha2pyFadugdynM374%2f%2bCq7N6bqnSsGwghLdQHrB59ZdBqo9E6RF1Q%3d%3d these appear to be available again, they werent when I blew mine up. http://store.americanmicrosemiconductor.com/2n3079.html?gclid=CJbjyNqO6qcCFRFU7Aod6kJfcQ&mobify=0 Edited September 22, 2015 by jetdriven

Brandontwalker
Thanks everyone for the help. I ordered some yesterday. The new ones, referenced above, appear a bit different because there is no screw out of the bottom of the transistor like on the original. It will take a bit of work to get it fit into place.
