Mooney_Allegro Posted August 13, 2010 Report Posted August 13, 2010 Has anyone installed the GAD 43 in their aircraft and using it with their autopilot? If so, how smooth is it and was it a lengthly installation? I have the G600 and using the KI-256 attitude indicator coupled to the KFC-150 Autopilot, and considering upgrading to the GAD 43, so I will no longer have to rely on the gyro for autopilot function. With the GAD 43, it will make the system more reliable I believe and cheaper in the long run if I can get rid of the expensive KI-256 with high overhaul expense and get a less expensive gyro backup attitude indicator. Thanks! Quote
RHHolt Posted August 22, 2010 Report Posted August 22, 2010 I'm scheduled to take my 252 into the avionics shop in Oct. for the GAD 43 upgrade for the same reasons. It wasn't available when I installed the G600 and I wanted to complete the installation. If you put it in, let me know how it goes. Quote
Joe Zuffoletto Posted September 2, 2010 Report Posted September 2, 2010 Yes, I just installed a G500 and connected the GAD 43 to the KFC-150 in my 1998 Encore. Works like a charm. You can see photos of my complete panel overhaul at www.zuffoletto.com. Quote
