MooneyBob Posted February 8, 2015 Report Posted February 8, 2015 My shinny spinner has cracked. I tried to google the part number but it returns very little info. It is McCauley D-6504 spinner. Where should I look to get new or overhauled one? What is the fair price for the spinner like this? Thanks Quote
pgrusenmeyer Posted February 8, 2015 Report Posted February 8, 2015 I'm going through the same process for my M20C. See post under vintage Mooneys. The spinner may be able to be welded. K & K Precision Welding in Wisconsin was recommended to me by Dan at LASAR. Comes back with a yellow tag. Also, Aircraft Spruce advertises spinner welding. Both places may be able to connect you with a new or used spinner. Good luck, Pat http://www.precision-welding.com http://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/appages/wspinnerrepair.php?clickkey=89605 2 Quote
bonal Posted February 8, 2015 Report Posted February 8, 2015 I think K and K is where Dan sent mine they turned it round in just a few days and welds looked great till I got another crack in a new spot but their welds were still just fine it was a white spinner so touch up was easy. With a polished you will have to be careful not to upset the integrity of the weld when polishing it out. Quote
Awqward Posted February 10, 2015 Report Posted February 10, 2015 Just be thankful you have the MacCaulay spinner....I have the Hartzell Q-tip and not only was the dome cracked but also the aft and fwd bulkheads....I had the dome repaired at ASEI in Ga (the shop Aircraft Spruce re-sells) which was fine...good job and quick turnaround....they have an FAA approved repair process which also involves heat treating the weld....my problem is that I couldn't source an aft bulkhead from anywhere...new or used...anywhere on the planet....so Hartzell are pressing out a new one...when they can get it into their production schedule....will be 4+ months grounded by the time I get back in the air... :-( The part number you are looking for is 680031-039 (polished) or 680031-019 (standard)....you will find it all in section 61-10-00 of your Illustrated Parts Catalog (IPC)... 1 Quote

bumper Posted February 15, 2015 Report Posted February 15, 2015 I have an "as new" 3-blade spinner, polished aluminum (no backing plate) that I would part with on the cheap as I have no use for it. Best offer. Quote
MooneyBob Posted February 16, 2015 Author Report Posted February 16, 2015 I have an "as new" 3-blade spinner, polished aluminum (no backing plate) that I would part with on the cheap as I have no use for it. Best offer. Do you know what is the part number or what propeller it came from? I want to make sure it is the right one. Thanks Quote
