DrBill Posted September 25, 2014 Report Posted September 25, 2014 That's SUPER !... I do my currency every 3 months. 3 appr w/hold every 3 mos plus whatever I fly. I'm going tomorrow for my next one. When I had to do an IMC approach last month it was a piece of cake and the pilot passenger was really impressed how smooth it went. Been doing that since I got the IFR in June of 2003. BILL 2

Jerry 5TJ Posted September 26, 2014 Report Posted September 26, 2014 Those books are good. One other MUST read is "Severe Weather Flying" by Denis Newton. I've read it multiple times. Also "Fate is the Hunter" by Ernie Gann has some useful info, dramatically presented.

mike_elliott Posted September 26, 2014 Report Posted September 26, 2014 Now that you've completed your rating I'll give you the same advice that I have given all of my instrument students and on many occasions here in this forum - go pick up and spend some quality time reading the latest editions of Weather Flying by Robert N Buck and Instrument Flying by Richard Taylor. (You can get them both on Amazon.) Ward, I have given Richard Taylor's book Instrument flying to one of my students a while back. After reading, they sign it, and send it to another of my students and they repeat the process. When it is full, we are going to send it to Mr. Taylor's surviving family as a token of our gratitude.
