231Pilot Posted June 30, 2010 Report Posted June 30, 2010 This 252 was on the market in March and was the topic of much discussion on the thread "252 Overhaul Cost Estimates". I just saw it on controller, and it had $10K invested in a March annual. Price still looks pretty good. Anybody know anything about it and why it has resurfaced so quickly? http://www.controller.com/listingsdetail/aircraft-for-sale/MOONEY-M20K-252TSE/1987-MOONEY-M20K-252TSE/1173189.htm I could be interested, but I'm a bit suspicious of a plane that hits the market so soon after a $10K annual.
Parker_Woodruff Posted June 30, 2010 Report Posted June 30, 2010 Looks like a good deal...is that TKS or just paint on the leading edges?
Ron McBride Posted June 30, 2010 Report Posted June 30, 2010 Looks like a descent buy. But I wonder about all the maintenace and the last 4 sentences on the ad. Inspection Status. April 2010, Cole Aviation (Mooney Service Center)- August 2008, IFR Cert August- Up to date photos will be added to this add as soon as the airplane returns from Don Maxwell Aviation, where final maintanence is currently being done. Parker_Woodruff Posted June 30, 2010 Report Posted June 30, 2010 This guy's also trying to sell his 1977 M20J on Barnstormers and apparently not getting too much interest. I've seen his M20J in person...pretty airplane. http://www.barnstormers.com/classified_431331_1977+Mooney+M20J.html
KSMooniac Posted June 30, 2010 Report Posted June 30, 2010 I just saw that ad earlier this afternoon and was wondering about the leading edges...TKS or protective rubber? Since a hot prop is mentioned, I would imagine they would also list TKS if installed, but who knows. Regarding a 10 AMU annual, it could be a bunch of catch-up MX to get the plane into a sellable condition. Decent cosmetics, a 530W and a recent overhaul at that price is very, very attractive. I would be taking a hard look if I were in the market for a 252.

FlyingAggie Posted June 30, 2010 Report Posted June 30, 2010 Quote: Parker_Woodruff It's getting about $5000 worth of work done at Don Maxwell right now...FWIW, an electric cowl flap motor is not cheap!!

Buster1 Posted July 1, 2010 Report Posted July 1, 2010 Saw this one too. Spoke with the previous owner a few months ago about it. It looks great, but did have damage in the past. Maybe it still needs a lot of fixing.
