Call LASAR. I have the LASAR "wiser visors" (I thnk they're called) in my 66E. I did recall seeing that mine came from the factory with some sort of visors and then they were replaced with the lasar ones sometime after.

My plane has no factory installed visors and most of the aftermarket visors I've seen seem to rely on the factory visor attach points.   I think I'll call lasar and see what they have to say, thanks for the tip.

I installed the LASAR Wiser Visors in Jolie's E a couple of years ago.  These units articulate every which way and are very useful.  Much more useful than the original.   The most difficult part was accurately drilling the holes in the correct location on the plastic post pieces.  This is necessary in order to match the new visor mounting stud.   Get it right the first time!

I agree with Mitch regarding installation.  I now have an extra hole that I need to discretely cover. Mine also articulate every which way. I will post some pics tommorrow.

Philip,

Did you do the install or did you have a mechanic do them for you?  I'm currently visorless and want to install something to take the place of the originals when the 201 windshield went in.  Where did you get yours from?

Thanks,

Brian

Hi Brian.

Yes, you can install the LASAR visors yourself.  You do have to be very accurate when you mark/drill the mounting stud hole access point through your plastic pieces.  It's a one shot deal.  Otherwise, you have an extra hole that will need to be filled.  Speaking from experience here.

Drpep has posted photos for you of the installed units so that should give you a good sight reference.

I called Laser today to inquire about the visors for my 67 M20F.  Seems they are all out of them and won't reorder for quite some time.  Anyone know of any other options for pre 68 models?

Look for visors for my '68 M20C as well. Have inquiry pending with Laser; based on bgpilot1's comment, doesn't sound promising. Any other options? I don't think the Rosen's will work since my '68 doesn't have existing mount points....

According to Dan @ LASAR, they need enough interested parties to commit to purchasing the visors to run another batch and keep the cost down. LASAR needs about 40-50 orders to release the batch -- not sure how many they already have. I just added myself by completing the order form on their website and adding "add me to the order list" in the comments per Dan's instructions.

If you need visors for pre '68 mooneys -- please join the list so we can them sooner :-) At this point, Dan's best guess was about 3-4 months out. If they get enough orders, they will build them sooner!

From my perspective, the LASAR Wiser Visors are great!  We have certainly enjoyed them in the E model.  Through the kindness of Paul Lowen, and the generosity of my Mooney wife, I now have them installed in the R!  Yippee!!

Mitch,

If you get the opportunity, could you photograph the Wisors in the R?  The mini stock eyebrows are so unappreciated...

I was unaware that there is an alternative.

Best regards,

The LASAR visors do take up a bit more space, but the articulation value out weighs that, at least for me at this point.  I will snap some photos and post them.

I do love the "stock" look of things and that includes the Mooney visors.  I would however, find myself saying bad things about those little cute Mooney visors as I was flying along wishing there were better at helping to diminish some sunshine on my face.

So, I have carefully stored my stock little Ovation visors for now, and enjoying the utility of the Wiser Visors.   Life is good when flying through the air in a Mooney.
