Hi y'all,

Big trip this weekend to Columbia for the Father's Day Fly-In.  Got the plane detailed at Artcraft at it looks great!  I'd like to experiment with some power settings on the way up to Columbia.  Anyone want to offer some fuel flow numbers at different MP/RPM settings (Mooney 201)?  Thanks!

WOP throttle. 2500 RPM (I use 2450 RPM because my prop was dynamicaly balanced and 2450 is an optimum RPM for my prop)  50 ROP (or peak if you are high enough to have 65 horse power or lower).  This is what I do and it's based on recommendations from Lycoming and Mooney.

Hi Fernando.

Looking forward to doing the Mooney Ambassador display with you this weekend.  From all we have been reading and studying over the past few years, running your engine at 50 ROP is NOT the best for your engine.  I suggest starting with the following link/information for a good understanding of LOP and ROP operations that are easier on your engine.

There are many 201 flyers on MooneySpace that can give you good numbers for your IO-360 with regards to fuel flow settings, CHT and EGT numbers.

I do know from Jolie's E model, which has the IO-360, her fuel burn is near 10 GPH 100 degrees ROP below 8K feet.   This is based on actual fuel burn during a given amount of time, as we do not have a fuel flow meter in that plane.  Also, CHT's are at or below 380 degrees at this setting.   I suspect your 201 will be similar.

I hope others chime in for you and in fact, there may be a thread on this currently on MooneySpace.  Let me search too.

See you there.
