mooney17n Posted February 16, 2014 Report Posted February 16, 2014 Hello Mooneyspace! Been browsing look for a upgrade from my 68 M20C. Saw listing for these 2 Ovations and wondering if anyone has any info. Both are 2000 models. The one is a Special Edition that was featured in Flying. Has been for sale for quite a while. Based at Flying W (N14) in NJ. The other based in Double Springs, AL at 3M2. Any thoughts on these aircraft especially price. Definitely need good prebuy on any aircraft purchased, but anything else. chrisk Posted February 17, 2014 Report Posted February 17, 2014 I don't really track Ovation prices, so I can't comment on that. On a personal note, I would probably expect a discount for the recent damage history, especially because I'm sure there are plenty of planes that have not had a "Deer Strike". The gear up, does not bother me that much, that doesn't mean a free pass. Both repair events should be thoroughly researched to see if the proper things have been done. And on the wing, I would demand a visual inspection for the components replaced, and anything near it. --All that add up to more cost on the Pre Purchase Inspection. And for that, I expect a discount. And when I sell it, the next buyer will expect the same. Also my opinion on gear up devaluation is: If it got a new prop and a factory overhaul, it's probably not an issue. On the other hand, if the engine got the worlds cheapest tear down inspection, I would be wondering about how good an inspection was done. --So sometimes I would not devalue. Other times, I would. PMcClure Posted February 17, 2014 Report Posted February 17, 2014 I can't comment on the condition, but the price seems discounted already. I would guess a 2000 O2 with dual 430's and a KFC225 would push 200k or more with no squawks. If they are willing to deal some more, I think you could be getting a good deal. Would worry more about the low time than anything as long as repairs were done well. Quote
carusoam Posted February 17, 2014 Report Posted February 17, 2014 For price background... See All American's site for comparison. http://www.controller.com/list/list.aspx?pcid=17527&etid=1&dlr=1&setype=1 Of course, 19 Mooneys listed, but no Os today.. From memory, $200k or more for the most modern and well equipped. These prices look discounted already... Best regards, -a- 1 Quote
N222VS Posted February 17, 2014 Report Posted February 17, 2014 Im not really excited about selling mine but I would take $245,000 for mine & it is in PERFECT shape its a 2000 o2 with A/C 50hr Top Overhaul 1100tt w/3 blade prop!! Robert C. Posted February 19, 2014 Report Posted February 19, 2014 I've been watching the 1045X listing for a while as I hope to be in the market this summer. It started out as I recall at $225k or more about 1 year ago. It came down to $189k in the Fall, was listed as Sale Pending in November/December or so and now is shown at $199k. Note that the initial listing didn't mention the damage history! The subsequent listing mentioned repairs of the wing outside the stall horn activator. The FAA/NTSB damage report sems to indicate more extensive damage and therefore repairs. The low hours are also a bit of an issue. You'll want to have that engine checked very carefully. Don't know what is going on but the pricing history of some aircraft is just a bit weird. There is an O2GX for sale in FL that started out at $259k 18 months ago and now lists at $289k. Some people's logic is just beyond me I guess. Quote
Alan Fox Posted February 19, 2014 Report Posted February 19, 2014 I am personally familiar with the Platinum edition that is kept at Flying W , It is extremely low time , I am involved when the annuals are done at Crewdog Aviation , just so I can sit in it and dream.... It is gorgeous , the repair from a deer strike was done at Airmods , A service center (Msc) in Robbinsville NJ , you would not know it was damaged unless you saw the logs.....Perfect in every detail...Your not going to steal it , because I already would have....Its that nice ....Basically a new aircraft.... Alan Fox Posted February 19, 2014 Report Posted February 19, 2014 The price was reduced because of the damage... Quote
PMcClure Posted February 19, 2014 Report Posted February 19, 2014 Without damage, I would put the value at $225-$230k. Quote
