Martin H Posted September 15, 2013 Report Posted September 15, 2013 I've never flown behind / with one of these, how do you like the 41? What are the things to enjoy? What are the things to watch? What are its plusses and minuses? Does it / can it operate effectively with a 530W and HSI? Thanks, Martin
RocketAviator Posted September 16, 2013 Report Posted September 16, 2013 Martin, I flew over 800 hrs with a Century 41 Autopilot, a great autopilot, solid as a rock, no minus. I especially like the factory service department manager Matt. He is very helpful and provided good service the only time I had to have work done on my unit. My Saratoga with the C41 was coupled to a 530W and Sandel 3500. Great combo for my missions which included a lot of IFR!
jax88 Posted September 16, 2013 Report Posted September 16, 2013 I've got a Century 41 in my '75 M20F, integrated with a new Garmin 650. I am sometimes caught off guard by the course corrections, but otherwise I am very happy with it. With the gps integration it will follow my flight plan, hold altitude, fly holding patterns, approaches, etc. I often use it on climb out and descent using the attitude feature. As you can see from the flight tracking on flightaware.com for my aircraft, it holds a heading and altitude very well (disregarding the most recent flight from Kimball County to Stinson - the turbulence was constant all the way from Silver City, NM to San Antonio).
