  1. There’s always this one newbie who had to ask... Tada! Just kidding! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
  2. And I am the peacemaker and believe it should be in the middle.
  3. I say, strip her down and redo it all! [emoji6] You might want to explore putting this on a CAD and play with options. The depth you have will limit what you can do in some areas. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro
  4. Dan - I’m pretty sure the flight director options are just that for any of the autopilots that interface with the Aspen. You don’t need the flight director for the autopilot to work with the Aspen. My STEC did not have a flight director and I added it later to my Aspen. What you may be referring to is that if you want a flight director on the Aspen, it must be a single cue to work. The Century needs to be converted by Century to work as a single cue. 5. I guess I better blow the dust off of that old trusty VOR. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro
  6. I was happy to clear out real estate when I was able to move things to their electronic counterparts. I don’t know if the G5 depicts the VSI as numeric values or an analog (or both) but I really like seeing a real VSI number that an electronic version presents. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro
  7. I think you need to look at the all in cost to determine market fit. If the TXi base product is $12k and you GAD it up with options and it becomes a $25k to $30k solution plus installation, how many Mooney owners will spend that kind of money upgrading an older planes? The G5 clearly has been adopted well in the older Mooney population of planes and if a properly priced G3 line fit squarely in between the G5 and the TXi, I think to Erik’s point, there is a market. Yeah, it might mean they need to configure the products to up-sell more capable units to customers with deeper pockets, but they also need to address market opportunities where the pockets aren’t so deep. The G5 was the first step in this direction. Don has a Bravo and he already told us he has a $100k panel. Do you think he would step down to a G3? I don’t. Garmin is pretty savvy at market opportunities but they are sometimes late to respond market trends (think dedicated automobile GPS units). Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro
  8. When you say you have ADS-B In, but not on the panel displays are you saying that you don’t have the ADS-B enablement turned on? For me being on the east coast, the SVT has been more of a novelty. The ADS-B enablement on the other hand has been an awesome addition. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro
  9. All that plane swapping makes me wonder if he does the same with his spouse(s). [emoji6] Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro
  10. Or maybe it’s tied up certifying the G3 Touch for Mooneys. [emoji1787] Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro
  11. The part number you need is Aircraft Spruce’s number: 05-04073. Manufacturer number is 9977005-01. Aircraft Spruce’s site doesn’t show it listed currently. You might be able to locate it elsewhere or see if Spruce will special order it. It is called a Whisperflo Ventilator. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro
  12. I will verify this is the correct one. https://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/appages/plasticeyeball1.php You will need a wedge to set the angle correctly. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro
  13. I used an app called PhotoEditor. Same one I use when people post aerobatic pictures of themselves. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro
  14. How many times have I told you that they aren’t going to make you into a 6 footer. You still haven’t stopped over for your O2 fill up. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro
  15. I think the detent is unique to the 75 model. I have flown Js with the toggle. I really like the detent style. No question what position the flap is set for. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro
  16. I have a 15° and 33° setting. The 75 models use a detent style controller instead of the toggle Hank has. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro
  17. I didn’t check the few times it happened. One time I was flying in actual when it happened so I didn’t look. The other couple of times, I didn’t look but did get the LOI message and the “approach unavailable” message. It wasn’t a degraded situation, it was clearly lost. Every time it has happened to me I was southeast of the airport. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro
  18. Whatcha doing going into Baltimore? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro
  19. I think whether you climb or descend depends on the situation. Climbing when you are picking up icing up high probably won’t work if your plane’s climb ability has turned into the same as a Mack truck. If you didn’t pick up ice until you reached a higher altitude, descending may make more sense. You may want to climb higher if you know the tops are reachable and the rate of accumulation is low. Reaching clear air will allow sublimation to do it’s thing. The most scary is SLD. The most eye opener thing I ever saw was a twin come into my airport in NY covered with ice. He was at full power, no flaps and pancaked landed. I never saw someone as scared as that young freight dog. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
  20. I have one that I tried to use to preheat the cabin when I am traveling (using a portable battery pack). They don’t throw out a lot of heat but it was better than nothing. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
  21. I think the mechanic he is working with is just not informed. It is highly unlikely anything will get into an empty tank. If the tank were to leak out, any contaminants would find it pretty hard to get into the tank. If the tank is run to the normal empty level ( Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
  22. Brian - funny hearing you on the frequencies. Sorry I couldn’t stop at Lancaster on Sunday. Was too busy to do anything other than a checkout flight for the JPI. As for KLNS. I have gotten LOI a few times at Lancaster. I was practicing RNAV approaches to 8 one day and lost the GPS on the approach. There is something in that area that causes this issue. It is the only place where I have lost GPS. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
  23. You need to add the MFD. [emoji23] I also noticed you have everything turned on. The little bar on the lower left shows the level of “declutter” that is on. You can play with turning things off it as another suggested, run in arc mode. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
  24. Snoop is sold on Amazon. You can get a small squeeze bottle of it for $8. Back in the day, you could only get Snoop from a scientific supply house. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro
  25. If it is just a leak, it probably is a loose fitting, a tube attached to a fitting that has cracked or crack In the line itself. With oxygen, you just need to make sure any oils, greases are kept away from it. The best way to check for leaks is a gas leak detector. Most shops won’t have one. The second best way is to pressure the system and see if it will hold pressure. You don’t want to use soaps, even synthetic ones like Dawn because they contain petroleum distillates.
