  1. I heard it reported as a blue and gold parrot in a full dive.
  2. I'm a 2 time survivor of DVTs. Both were attributed to being on long (and I mean long) international flights where I got dehydrated (not quite to a prune level). The first time was 12 years ago. Back then it was the heparin, Lovenox, rat poison routine. The second time was 4 years ago. Xarelto was the preferred treatment then. In fact, that treatment was a complete contrast from the first event. The first time I was hospitalized for 5 days and put through a litany of tests. The second event saw me given Xarelto in the emergency room and sent on my way with a free 30 day dose and then staying on Xarelto for 6 months. After the course of Xarelto I was switched to aspirin (325 mg) and now drink like a race horse. So... if you invite me to a fly-in, just be prepared for me to ask where the closest bathroom is right after I saw "hello" As for the FAA handling. When I went for the 3rd class medical after the first event, I had to provide INR results. What was noteworthy was that the AME/FAA interest in the DVT was minimal. What they were more interested in were the tests that were conducted in attempt to discover the cause of the DVT. That resulted in a biopsy of a nodule on my thyroid. When my sister (a physician) told me that there are concerns over DVT development with COVID, I became even more cautious. I'm not going to provide another data point for that analysis.
  3. I would be worried if you don't have a reaction to the second injection. It means your body is working correctly.
  4. I think there is some actuary guy sitting in a smoke filled room who has been running the numbers. It’s probably based on how much you’re flying, what kind of flying you’re doing & where you are flying. Let’s not forget about the “good looking” factor as well. Handsome Mooney owners get better rates.
  5. Brian, saw from Pankey’s FaceBook posts that you were taken on a COVID roller coaster ride. Glad you’re on the mend. I’m locked down in my bunker. I’m one of those people who lose their sense of smell and taste for up to 3 weeks with just a regular cold. I don’t want to be one of those 5%ers who have lost their senses for months with a possibility it will never come back. Losing those senses is emotionally crippling. The scary part is everyone who gets it seems to have their own experience with it. We have lost a couple of friends to it and we have a number of other friends & family who had minor symptoms to hospitalization. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro
  6. I wonder if anyone has played with trying an open tube with a smaller silicon insert. I did this trick on my F350 and it really improved the quality of the seal.
  7. 8.6% increase... Been with USAIG for at least 25 of my 29 years of ownership.
  8. I should add that mine was rebuilt twice. I was amazed to see the “Made in China” markings on mine. Who would have thunk that back in 1975 they were buying Chinese parts. Does anyone know if there are modern ones available? Something not taken off of my MFD lawn tractor? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
  9. Do you know if it works? Mine is prettier but doesn’t hold well. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
  10. Wouldn't it be great if they reimbursed you with a brand new roller tappet engine?
  11. I got a couple of first hand reports on your TFR bust. The guy owns a Bellanca high wing. He went up in the morning with an instructor to learn the proper way to exit and enter the TFR. In the afternoon, he decided to take off without a flight plan and a discrete code. He got intercepted and returned to the airport. Instead of landing, he did a touch and go and then headed southbound when all of sudden his returns went away. Haven't heard anymore since... You can see him in the last few seconds of the video. 12. This may finally fill up your hangars! I did find his first one was unusual. The inner circle is 12 nm wide. Historically they are 10 nm. Heard that it was widened to allow him to visit family in the area. I suspect, when summer rolls around, we can expect to see more of them at his Rehoboth beach home.
  13. He owns a large beach house in Rehoboth Beach. Rumor has it that they built a helipad either on or near the property.
  14. Thank goodness!!!!
  15. I am not familiar what the Avidyne will or won't display. My Lynx 9000+ will display weather and traffic on both the PFD and MFD (I have both unlocks) and traffic will show on the GTN 650. Garmin doesn't support displaying weather on their unit. Since the Lynx has traffic and weather on its own display, I can see if I have weather and traffic (as well as the METARs).
  16. You do have a mystery on your hands. The MFD is definitely not getting the Avidyne's GPS signal and the PFD is. The "RSM GPS" indicates a invalid GPS signal. This could be caused by no connection between the RSM that has the backup GPS (read, not wired correctly or a bad connection) or a faulty backup RSM GPS. If the MFD was not receiving the Avidyne's GPS signal, I would expect it to show this: Not sure how familiar you are with the menu on the MFD, but I would check the menu option for "GPS Position Source" on the MFD. I think it should have "GPS 1 or GPS 2" in it. What is troubling is in one of the flight photos you are showing no traffic being shown on the PFD yet, the regional radar from FIS-B is green signifying you have solid communication. I am wonder if your ADS-B unit is functioning correctly as well. Let us know what you discover!
  17. The Aspen receives it’s GPS signal from your Avidyne. It looks like your PFD is receiving the Avidyne GPS signal but the MFD is not and hence the “RSM GPS” message. Your Aspen 2000 has 1 GPS antenna built into the PFD RSM. I have seen some shops install dual GPS RSMs for each Aspen, but the typical installation is just one. Since your MFD is not seeing the Avidyne GPS signal, it is using the emergency RSM GPS for position. Something is not wired correctly or a connection has been broken. The top of the MFD is showing the navigation information from the PFD. Have you tried to go into reversion mode to see what happens? I would give Aspen a call and just confirm how everything is supposed to work. Does your Aspens ever show normal displays like this? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro
  18. It’s funny how this thread went from Jim’s question about a software direct button in the flight plan to a montage of button comparisons. You guys are too funny. And just for the record, all of my buttons, err, keys work just fine. Wish I could say the same for the “a” key on my Logitech keyboard. [emoji1787] Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro
  19. Leather seats can be pretty hot in the summer and pretty cold in the winter until your butt warms up the memory foam. As well, I know when they removed the cloth coverings from my seat frames there was a nice old man butt scent that came along with it. You might want to consider a sheepskin cover. After one summer of flying in the northeast, I found that putting sheepskin covers on made a world of difference both in the summer and winter. I’ve seen these seat covers come in different styles. A simple seat pad that is free floating, one that is sewn onto the front of the seats and the kind I have which are strapped onto the seats. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro
  20. I agree. Most of the time when I am given a "direct to", it is a waypoint in my flight plan. Let's cut out the middle man!
  21. I don't think he is worried about the button failing as much as questioning why there isn't a direct do feature in the flight plan. My guess it is set up this way because most people probably don't have the flight plan open most of the time.
  22. I looked for it as well. I think Garmin wants you to pay homage to the “Direct To” button. I’ve been caught a few times with the flight plan open and been given a direct to in my flight plan only to need to pay homage to the button. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
  23. Lancaster Aero at Smoketown Airport (S37) has painted Mooneys Sureflight at Chester County (KMQS) has done some really amazing paint jobs (they painted Premiere One Driver's jet). Both are in Pennsylvania. (no sales tax on the work).
  24. 2001 2013 2017 2021? "Now I know what I have to do now. I gotta keep breathing because tomorrow the sun will rise. Who knows what the avionic shop could bring?"
  25. This thread opens up a possible discussion. If we lose the elevator in our Mooneys, which is the best way to fly it? Since we have a moveable tail, can that alone work? Or is it a combination of power & trim? Or knowing the effect of flaps, do they play a role in handling an emergency like this? I guess we would need to start off with failures modes. If the push pull rod breaks, what happens to the elevator in flight? Will the trim system still be functional?
