  1. What kind of Mags do you have and how many hours do you have on them?
  2. Thanks Don. The prior owner had a homemade dehumidifier that had both tubes go into the plug that goes into the filler cap. The research I've done, I'm not sure this setup does much good. Need to pull it out again and see how I can rework it.
  3. How do you hook up these dehumidifiers on aircraft that has a oil/water separator? Most I've seen ties into the blow-by hose.
  4. Even though your an A&P I would still recommend taking it to a MSC to check it out. There are a lot of Mooney specific items that unless you work on them all them time, you could over look. Have someone like Don Maxwell fly it. He'll know before leaving the pattern if it's a good plane.
  5. I'm currently working on my IR and prior to purchasing my Mooney I was renting a Cherokee 180. It's a great trainer and everything was going well until I switched over to the Mooney. Then it was like I was never under the hood! It's amazing how the level of complexity goes up when transitioning from a trainer to a faster complex aircraft. It would of been much easier to complete my IFR training in the 180 but there's something to be said for training in the plane you'll be flying. Even though it's going much slower, when done I'm sure I'll be a much better pilot using my plane.
  6. Seeing how low in the tail the Ovation and especially the Acclaim set I'm surprised that this isn't a concern regardless of Flap settings. These planes are damn near taildraggers (sounds like in some cases they are)!
  7. Seriously guys... Just give Hector a call at Aero Comfort and order one. They're only $20 for a pair in a color of your choice.
  8. Welcome to page 13....
  9. Because you don't want to miss the post that would put this tread in the ditch again (assuming it was ever out of it)!
  10. I considering treating myself to a new handheld Nav/Com transceiver for Christmas. I'm leaning towards an Icom IC-A24 but before pulling the trigger, I'd be interested in what everyone else thought would be a good choice?
  11. The beautiful thing about Jacob living in Texas is that he'll not have to worry about paying sales tax! Individuals are exempted form having to pay any taxes on the sale.
  12. I received my PPL in a Piper Warrior but I didn't learn how to fly until I received my tailwheel endorsement in a Champ.
  13. There is a PC application called Xpanel that allows you to lay your panel out. They even have Mooney templates to start your design. Pretty cool.
  14. Do you have any flight training? I personally would take that $2000/month and put it toward your flying lessons. Then when you get your PPl, then look at purchasing an airplane. Better to beat up someone else's plane.
  15. Mike, Unless you want to do the work on a shoestring budget, I'd give Hector at Aero Comfort a call. He takes your broken up interior, repairs it and returns it wrapped in leatherette. He did mine and they started out like crap and turned out great.
  16. That's a great book... Just what's needed, nothing more... Too bad it's out of Print.
  17. I have a Alternator switch so I make sure I turn that off after I switch off my avionics prior to pulling mixture. I also lower my flaps if I have passengers then raise them after they've out of the plane.
  18. Thanks for the clarification... Got Lycoming on the brain!
  19. After setting through Ed's presentation and Mike Busch's presentations at Oshkosh, I'm pretty convinced the best combo is X/C 20W50 and Camguard.
  20. And be a hangar bum? That's assuming you're not already!
  21. SWTA isn't discussed much on the forum but the part's they offer has saved my bacon more than once! I for one, am glad they provide the parts that no one else seem to offer.
  22. Sorry... I just can't help myself... Maybe MAPA can offer a special support group during this year's convention.
  23. I moved over to Firefox and it seems to work better. It still provides a pop-up when selecting a thread. It seems to have started when ads stated showing up on every couple of posts.
  24. Maybe I'm missing something or don't understand your question... Not sure I understand how Camguard has anything to do with starter issues?
