  1. I had mine IRAN'ed... The charge was around $650 per mag.
  2. Does the Rotax in that plane have any noticeable p-factor? Never flew one... Just wondering?
  3. I take my 65C to Don's place a couple times a year for its annual and other stuff. My wife has called me a moron... Guess she's right!
  4. My oil temp is just like Byron's. My oil temp will not get much higher than 75dF until I'm airborne. Might be where my sensor is located in relation to the oil cooler.
  5. There's two that are pretty much at the top of the list. One is Select Aircraft Services in Lancaster, Texas. The other is Aircraft Magneto Service in Bainbridge Island, WA. I used Select Aircraft Services and Aaron Williams is top notch. You will not find anyone better. Other folks really like Aircraft Magneto Service. Don Maxwell uses Select Aircraft Services and Mike Busch uses Aircraft Magneto Service. Can't go wrong with either choice.
  6. Not sure what your budget is but one option is to have Aero Comfort will re-web your existing all four sets for around $600. They did mine and they look great.
  7. Don, I'll take it if no one else has claimed them.
  8. FWIW, Lycoming SI 1505 specifically states that when using high volume hot air to Pre-heat, cowl flaps are to remain open to avoid heat build-up that can damage wiring, hoses, etc.
  9. Banal, the first thing I did when I purchased my plane was to have a JPI 700 installed. I personally feel that it's the single most important in my plane. I would not walk but run to have an engine monitor installed. They are not that expensive so there's very little excuses out there for not having one. You only have four cylinders so you need to make sure they all keep running.
  10. Bob, completely agree... Just an option if it looks like the panel is beyond repair.
  11. If the panels are are too far gone, I'd recommend purchasing new ones from Vantage Plane Plastics (www.planeplastics.com). If you only have to replace a couple panels, it will only be a few hundred dollars.
  12. MAPA's PPP is by far some of the best training available. I attended one last summer and will make every effort going forward to use the PPP as a means of obtaining my Bi-annual flight review and IPC.
  13. Don's the real deal. He does all of my major work on my plane. He did my shock discs but they were already converted to the new Lord discs. Since they are the original, there's a chance when he pops out the old ones, he'll find some parts that will need to be replaced.
  14. That happened to me as well a few months ago as I was turning final at my home airport. It's pretty disturbing to see it pop out. Now I give it a tug at least twice after it's supposed to be down and locked.
  15. Those on the mains are original and really only last 4-5 years. You will have to convert them to the newer 4 puck stack. SWTA generally have them in stock for around $95 each.
  16. For those that want to track bill before Congress regarding the 3rd Class Medical, here's a link: https://www.govtrack.us/congress/bills/113/hr3708#overview Here's the text of the Bill: https://www.govtrack.us/congress/bills/113/hr3708/text The website only shows a 4% chance of it ever enacted... Little depressing.
  17. Doesn't slip like a Cub or Champ but my C does a pretty good job when needed.
  18. I've always found the forward slip pretty effective...
  19. Isaac - I had some engine roughness when pushing the plane passed 23" MAP. I found that one of my mags had 1400 hours on it when I purchased the plane. I had both mags pulled and sent them over to Select Aircraft Services and had both IRAN'ed. That resolved my issue. If you don't see any documented evidence to having them IRAN'ed and the hours would put them past the 500 hour mark, I'd recommend you have them IRAN'ed regardless if that's the issue.
  20. Just watched a few episodes of Discovery Channel's "Dangerous Flights" show. It's about ferry pilots taking small planes around the world... Pretty entertaining. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GziV0efQrN4 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tzSji4pCY6c http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EvYM5TgFqYY http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YRBOd3-CDLc http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w6URptXTuzM http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BUEAbBDXa98 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2yQApLkPbYA http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1JttzTWAntI
  21. Looks like that's the Tach was replaced at some point. Are those markings correct?
  22. Does New Years Eve count? 1.5 hrs... KDTO -> KWEA -> 52F ->KDTO.
  23. What... You provide discounts to the Raider Pilots Association but not MAPA??? What's up with that! Just kidding. Congrats!
