  1. I made it 3hrs on my first one Maxwell put on. Landed and nothing. Whacked it and got home. Next day same thing. Just swapped it. I would guess it’s infant mortality.
  2. There is that along with leaving the dipstick out. In short though finding where it is going puts you on the right path to fix.
  3. Standard cup holder in any Executive, alcohol not included.
  4. I stand corrected, you seem to be clear on what it is you want to do. Enjoy.
  5. Stick it on the scales, odds are the 25lb dumbbell does you in. This debate is always about a paper w&b, nobody ever wants to put their plane on a scale (even if they got paid to do it). That being said a Mooney ain’t a 206 but I moved a lot of cast iron pans from Chicago to NJ and then down to ATL. I live in a more gray world.
  6. I don’t know what you expect but the OP is talking about something totally different than you. Dropping into a conversation where we are talking about turbos and you want to talk jet engines, it is interesting but has nothing to do with the conversation.
  7. The original topic is somebody spending money to update their panel for a sale in the next 2-3yrs. That isn’t what you are talking about. Stick a PT-6 on the nose, just know in 2yrs you aren’t even getting core value on the PT-6 back.
  8. I can guarantee you that 90% of planes that get reweighed come in heavier, this is why nobody reweighs. Most people never fly close to gross at least in the classics where you have 1000lbs+ so the whole discussion is kind of silly. I moved from Chicago to NJ and then to Atlanta in my F. I swear to the FAA I did my W&B but something makes me believe that I could shove a lot more weight in then prescribed…..
  9. You are making the point that your one in a million situation of a bird moving in somehow justifies a million people buying an engine monitor. If that cylinder went bad for this crazy reason then you could replace it for less then the cost of most quality engine monitor installs. Also seems like some $1.50 sponges in the cowling would have addressed the root. I have a MVP-50 which does some nice things. There is no legitimate ROI on it, I bought it because it was cool. I certainly wouldn’t have put it in if my intent was to sell in the next 2-3yrs. My opinion.
  10. Oil is going to go one of three places. Out the breather and the belly will be coated. Out the case and the cowling will be coated. Out the exhaust and the exhaust pipe will be oily/coked. Find where the oil is going and that will answer the question.
  11. This all has to do with minimum oil certification in the regs. Somebody will come along and correct but essentially if you have 8 max you get 4 min or something to the effect. The reality is 6 which would mean something like 2 min which is unachievable. Hence the published 8 which everyone just uses 6 for.
  12. I recently learned that the human six pack is a fallacy. Due to genetics you may only have a four pack or be a rarity and have a ten pack. No amount of exercise can fix this, we are all born with the belly we have.
  13. Get an in-line plug tester, cheap, predictable, and easy to see the spark. Grounding the plug is iffy at best and trying to see the spark outside of total darkness is a bitch.
  14. It makes perfect sense to every real pilot on this forum, just don’t tell my girl.
  15. What engine, what prop, what plane, etc.
  16. 30 less, I thought you knew something about math?
  17. How do I tell what voltage my right arm is? It’s a little sore now so might need replacing in the future. Want to stock up while new arms are available.
  18. If it is hot they are going to sling grease. What was the OAT when all this was going on?
  19. Wait a month.
  20. I am finishing my panel next year adding another GTN650 & GFC500 to center stack, another full bore G5 to the left side, moving MVP-50 left. The whole right side is getting vacuum six pack. I love my G5. 2 G5’s, vacuum gauges, plus stand by vacuum ensures when I run out of gas I can track myself all the way into the ground with no issues
  21. Let me fix that for you, you are more OCD than most!
  22. It gives you perceived functionality. You flew at least 180 hours without it. I have a MVP-50 which honestly is pretty cool but I flew for 25yrs without one. I honestly bought it because I wanted a fuel totalizer and it was neat. That being said I have 20yrs and 1000hrs in a 320 which has the worst turbos known to man kind. We got at least 1200hrs out of each of the cylinders using garbage 1960’s Cessna gauges which probably never worked right. It’s your money, enjoy.
  23. Personally if the intent is to sell and move on in 2-3 years I wouldn’t do anything. You never get money back on upgrades.
  24. Now that I see this is the correct answer I am going to go with this as well.
  25. CAP and a submariner, oh boy….
