  1. The windows are in great shape, I don't want to damage them. The sealant is on the outside of the window, lets call it trim, similar to what you would see with the exterior windows. It cracked, old looking and has shrunk. A guy at a shop I used to go to removed it from the front windshield and re chalked it and it looks great, three years ago. Have have something to compare the ugly with now.
  2. So on the weekend I went out to the airport and started to remove the old sealant around the windows, it looks like hell but it doesn't seem to want to come off. Anyone have any suggestions.
  3. When the IFD first came out I believe you needed some special code to get better pricing. I dont know the code, never updated mine and maybe that is over with with the new Jepp site.
  4. I have a TSIO-360LB, but when hot, I pull the mixture to shut off, and put the throttle half way in. No prime or pump. Engage the starter and the engine will fire but then you have to be very fast to push the mixture in and pull the throttle back to a reasonable level and at the same time start priming the engine. It will spit and sputter a bit, but once the vapor lock is gone, maybe 10 second it will smooth out, work 100% of the time for me.
  5. I made the mistake two years ago booking a flight with United. I and three hundred other people were left standing in a line for six, yes six hours. No information or communication, elderly people standing for hours, it was a terrible. I hour two the plane was to depart, no one knew what was going on, one of the counter people told us United was leaving BKK and it was like the evacuation of Saigon. I wrote them a letter and after two months they sent me a $200 coupon, I told them to shove it. I told them I would rather bad mouth them for the next decade, I'm living up to my end of the bargain.
  6. I believe Don Maxwell said the three prop blade (MT) on the M20k was the only upgrade he would ever pay for (or something like that). I cant remember where I saw that, but it helped shorten takeoff role, increased climb, lower the weight on the nose without any speed penalty.
  7. Jeev, didn't you live in Edmonton at one point. I was thinking Hendson, but if I can get parking in the shade I may go North Vegas. Any idea who I would call?
  8. Along the same lines, I'm planning on filling down to Vegas, whats the best FBO and is there any temporary parking out of the sun, I going in July.
  9. I'm told there are all kinds of bodies in shallow graves out in the desert.
  10. I have a Turboplus intercooler, is your install the same, I usually don't see the differential being that high, I have seen others mention the same figure though, wondering if mine needs some rejigging.
  11. I have a DAC31, works well with the KFC200
  12. Do consider putting the Merlyn wastgate on it as well, it does help with the critical altitude, brings it up from 14000 feet to 21000 feet. Also helps to keep the engine and turbo cooler by lowering turbo speeds when not necessary to run the turbo at full speeds. ( I think its about 4K), a bought one a few years back.
  13. What kind of glue did you use to glue the leather to the yoke?
  14. Clarence I can only find one reference to that number on the internet, has it been replaced with something. It seem to be a fuel tank re sealant ( Polysulfide/ Dichromate). Just looking at the exterior windows, Its almost a grey color now and I'm guessing its original (was black).
  15. Could some one tell me what the black caulking is around the windows. Mine is looking a bit old and I would like to remove it and replace it with new stuff.
  16. Did you glue the trim pieces onto the door and if so what kind of glue?
  17. Don if you don't mind I'd be really interested as well, greatly apppreciated.
  18. Consumer Aviation Oct 2016 recommendations: CO Experts Model 2016. It’s the most expensive unit, but it lasts the longest, so it’s not the most expensive in service. The Tocsin came second in line with the Pocket CO a close third. If the budget just won’t cover an electronic unit, then at least get a Quantum Eye, put it where you can see it easily and make sure you replace it every 18 months.
  19. From BeechTalk today: (I hope so, I need a hit) So what's the latest on 10.2? We are waiting on some feedback from the FAA. Should have that by next week. That should give us a better indication of how much longer. _________________ Simpson Bennett Avidyne Product Manager
  20. Is it possible to exceed the limits with the rudder peddle and directional brakes, it seem the turning radius can be pretty tight when turning in the plane.
  21. Kevin did your prepurchase go well, are you know the proud owner?
  22. Calgary, Alberta Canada
  23. Fosters does my work and I have been very happy with them. Cavalier might be better now but they had a terrible reputation for years, I don't know if it's better but my pre purchase from them was a joke. Mustang is well respected on the field, I don't know how much money experience they have, go in with a list, similar to what I mentioned before, and have them look at the tubular frame as well. Good luck, hope it works out, the 231 is a great plane, just run the engine correctly and you will have years of enjoyment.
  24. Takeoff looks ok, but don't operate the plane in cruise at those setting, you will find it runs hot, or at least hotter than it needs to be. I have the same setup as you and you should shart reading the info on this site about lean of peak operations. It greatly reduced the operating temperatures of my plane in cruise. I would run mind in cruise at 30-31 inches, burning10.5 gallons, which is about 68% power.
  25. Kevin do yourself a favor and don't get the inspection done at the local MSC here. They did mine, I even told them what to look for, came back 100%, tank reseal required, oxygen tank timed out requiring a new one, donuts out of spec, new ones required, 20k in the first year. Read the form here on LOP operation, your new plane will thank you for doing so, I think you may have looked at my plane in the process of buying yours, I had it for sale awhile ago.
