  1. jlunseth, I have the same issue, I dont have Gamis, but my spread is only .2, When I'm lean, I find the MP and FF seem to wonder, it will be 28 and over a couple of minutes will trend down to 26 or up to 30 (the flue flow also will drift, so it needs constant monitoring. I also find the speed loss to be in the 15knot range when flying at 28 inches, prop2600rpms (the FF being 11.2 GPH when lean). I have an intercooler as well.
  2. I believe the other issue was that as the ice melted it ran down to the flaps and alirons and then formed ice there to render them useless and I think that was the killer.
  3. I think the $9500 price includes an installation kit ($9,000 without it), what ever that is, does anybody out there know what that is?
  4. I was going to go ahead today and purchase one (although being in Canada the currency turned ugly on me today so I held off), the company has been around for a while but who knows, it looks good value to me and I'm in the market for a new GPS. Do you need a password for the Beach forum?
  5. I been thinking about scanning my POH into a PDF, but the file seem to get very large very quick, it would also be nice if you could set it up with indezes, has anyone done this and if so, what software, resolution.
  6. I have the external power unit plugin on the side of my Mooney but I was under the impression you could not use that to charge your battery, is this correct.
  7. Skypilot, there is a group from the Calgary Flying Club that fly to Mexico every spring, I just got the email, they are looking at March again for the same trip. They usually go down to the Baja area, VFR, nobody is in rush, 5-10 planes usually, Andrew Sclutz is the guy that usually puts it together (Andy is part of the club but doesn't work there), I'm sure they would mide if you tagged along, I may do the trip myself this year if the stars aline.
  8. Just one more question, when I run lean I find the fuel flow and hence the mp seem to vary even when I'm in level fight, when rich I can just set it and its stay the same anybody else experince such activity.
  9. Chris I have the Monroy tanks as well, which currently are leaking ($11,500 fix for that one in the spring), you consider 30 inches to be 83% power and do you clib at full power with the mixture all the way in and at what full flow would you do your climb. I think if I did full power my engine may melt down.
  10. I have a 231 with the auto waste gate and a Turbo plus intercooler and I run mine at 2600 rpm and 28 inchs (in cruise) and find the TIT is usally the limiting factor, I like it no higher thatn 1600. My number 2 cylinder also require monitoring as it usually is up at 380 wihile the others are around 330. This is burning 13.2 gallons per hour, if I lean it down to 10.5 per hour I find I losing to much speed. (I'm a novice with this plane, only 30 hrs, so take all this with a grain of salt)
  11. How can you tell if you have the newer alternative air option?
  12. I read a little while back something about calculating the % hp when lean of peak, it was a formula involving fuel flow, engine compression (Mine is a TCM 360lb, in a intercooler 231), I dont know what the compression ratio actual is if some is so good to provide that as well. Could some provide details on this.
  13. Why would you have Don Maxwell put the interior in as opposed to Aero Comfort, both are great shops I understand, is there a major difference in cost.
  14. It was either this forum or the MAPA forum that last week posted pictures of some poor guys Mooney that is likely totalled from a Piper running into the back of the wing from an airplane left running unattended. I belive it had two passengers in the back seat as well (the Piper that is) when it ran into the Mooney, no pilot.
  15. I have the same configuration, the wastegate and the Turboplus intercooler and have been wondering how people operate these. I have had the plane for 3 months now and haven't had much time to experiment. Do you ever look at the guage for the intercooler or do you just use some know configuration (ie: 38inches for takeoff, 28 in cruise). I usually see a 40 difference gauge at takeoff which works out to a little under 38 if you follow the formula. Any information would be appreciated.
  16. Some mention the "Turbo Guys" forum, I cant seem to find it and would like to read alittle bit about LOP in a turbo, could some direct me that way.
  17. How do you tell what the spread is on your injectors? I too have a 231 with intercooler and auto wastgate.
  18. Great job I was thinking about giving mine a polish as well, does anybody know where I can get the map light switch button that rest on top of the yoke?
