  1. LOL!!! Things are happening on that front. Hopefully won't be too long. However looking at pictures of Doug's new airplane isn't helping me get any closure!!!
  2. This dude is my new idol. Nick authored the below article and I believe all the pics are of him. http://www.flyingmag.com/pilots-places/pilots-adventures-more/f-15-combat-flying-afghanistan
  3. I think if they actually do that they are doing a huge disservice to the seller and prospective buyers. So they are essentially increasing the cost of the airplane by $10K which may be enough to take a prospective buyer over his budgeted amount and would not be buying an otherwise possibly great airplane that "may" have fit his mission profile. I say let the buyer decide if they want to put that extra money into the airplane. If the airplane is really a solid machine it will sell regardless.
  4. I have to agree Chris. I owned my J for 3 years and roughly 300 hours and believe it or not I did it without an IFR GPS. I know they're nice to have but I bet for the majority of folks out there they won't increase the utility one bit. Most will use them to shoot an IFR approach on a VFR day for practice. My GTN-mini (iPad) took me everywhere. :-) (I'm gonna take heat for those statements.............commencing ducking posture) That being said, I still wouldn't go after this J even at that price. In order to bring it up to where a comparable airplane is selling for with everything already done would not make financial sense.
  5. Stopped in Sioux Falls, SD for the night. All is well. Hopefully tomorrow will be the big day!! Nick says he's having a great time flying the 201.
  6. I'm not onboard or that's probably what would be going through my mind. I almost took my Mooney banner down out of my hangar to send it with the plane for Doug but I had to hold on to something Mooney. Sorry Doug. But that twin Beech will look even better in my hangar with a Mooney banner hanging behind it. I'm so happy that it went to somebody that is on Mooneyspace and will hopefully be able to live vicariously through Doug as he tells tales of hopping around the western side of the U.S. in her.
  7. Ignorance is bliss!!
  8. Well 62G is starting her journey out to Utah tomorrow. I get to fly it one last time tomorrow morning to pick up Nick from Pittsburgh Airport. Went out today to fly it for a bit after the shop installed a new muffler, new brakes and fixed a tiny oil leak. It was quite depressing knowing that my time with her has come to an end. It's funny how these machines become such a big part of our lives.
  9. Not to be a devils advocate but I have learned not to equate a pilots skills to their total time. Complacency is the real culprit here.
  10. I know really and that was a takeoff flow. Won't it be great to see 28 per side.
  11. Beautiful looking airplane. Even upside down. Good luck with the sale. You can't go wrong with the 201 and I'm sure the box of shame will be much easier to access with the extra room. I've been having 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th...............thoughts about selling mine.
  12. Does it look like the #3 valve is sticking during power off for landing? It does look like when he catches the alert flashing that he rolls in the mixture? Maybe it's better to teach him the target EGT method (which for me generally was about 1250) once you finally get him to richen the mixture for takeoff. Definitely need to address it though. Good luck. My FF was generally 18.3 during takeoff.
  13. That's very thoughtful of you Chris. Do you still have my address?
  14. A friend of ours who is a student pilot purchased a Bravo a few months back. Probably not the optimal platform to learn on but on the other hand he will know that airplane well by the time he is done.
  15. I would definitely shop around and surely you can do better than that. Remember that figure is only going to be for the first year and you should get a big relief for the 2nd year.
  16. Don I'm on year 3 with mine and I replace the battery annually.
  17. I use mine in conjunction with a Stratus 2. However, I will vouch for the effectiveness and reliability of the built in GPS of the iPad mini. It even works through heated windshields with no problem to an accuracy of 5m. Pretty darn good.
  18. Hi Doc Aviongoo.com Its a pay service but is particularly helpful when scouring the market for purchase.
  19. I keep mine on the ceiling close to my head.
  20. Hi Nick, I too use the Pocket CO and would definitely purchase it again. http://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/pspages/co300.php

  22. We get it through both VHF & Satellite. It's called AFIS and we manipulate it through our FMS.
  23. You are referring to D-ATIS and it is a pay service through Arinc at the moment. I don't see that being an option we are going to get through ADS-B.
  24. In church at the moment but real quick there are t hangars available at LBE. My email is: bnicolette@yahoo.com. Shoot me an email
  25. Chris when are you having that installed?
