  1. The one at Lancaster is Sensenich Propeller Service: $265 priscillasps@aol.com 800-462-3412
  2. I agree that Top Gun would be a fantastic choice for a pre buy in that area. Welcome to the forum!
  3. I believe mine was around $850. Not sure about the gears??
  4. Doc I also used Aaron @ Select in Lancaster, TX. Very smooth and predictable service. Will definitely use again.
  5. Back home! I can't say what the 121 guys do, but Byron can. (and I have no idea what equipment they have onboard) However, yes we always back up with what is available even on CAVU days/nights. Especially during night time and if there's no ILS then we will load in the GPS approach, if for nothing else to get a vnav to the runway.
  6. Keep in mind Mike that you are moving at 70 knots (excuse me, you have the AOA, I meant 67.3589 knots on final, ) as opposed to 1?? knots. It is tough to imagine this sort of thing happening as frequently as it seems to be. I'm sure we've all had the wrong airport in our sights but eventually figured out that it just wasn't adding up before we got too close. Feel bad for those guys and just hope they have fatigue on their side.
  7. http://www.aviationpros.com/news/11292999/mooney-international-seeks-a-new-contract-with-the-kerrville-kerr-county-airport-for-property-leased-there-for-more-than-40-years
  8. I just used a regular 2.5mm jack with an adapter to go from that size to the 1/4" which will plug into the headset jack of the airplane. This is not the one I have but you get the idea: http://www.amazon.com/Right-Angle-2-5mm-Stereo-Adapter/dp/B009GLGNBY
  9. For those of you installing the AOA would it make more sense to install it on the right wing of the airplane since we already have protection on the left wing? Just food for thought. What is the projected install time of the unit in question? How about paperwork? Chris how are you making out with the letter?
  10. This is about 7-8 knots in my airplane. Ward shouldn't you be planning the dinner after your wife's day? Glad everything is well!!!
  11. This is why if you are in a heated hangar you should "cold soak" the airplane (open the hangar doors and let it get cold) before taking it out. Then snow wont stick to it.
  12. Sorry Gary, I need them for the rare times I have other folks in the airplane. And I do like them I just prefer the Halo's. The only problem I have with the Halo's is when it's really warm out its difficult to get those damn sponges in my ears.
  13. Hank.......give up on that idea my friend. None of those guys are going to fly that far West.
  14. I have a set of Bose and they now sit on the rear seat back waiting for a passenger. I prefer the Halo's. The sound deadening with the foam tips is awesome and I keep my intercom volume much lower than I have to with the noise canceling headset. The best thing to do is give them a try. I believe he has a return policy if you're not happy with them. I would guess he gets very very few of them back. You will have to clean the foam tips from time to time (hint hint 201ER). Or just buy a whole bunch of extra ear pieces and throw the old ones away.
  15. Thanks Mike. It has been and will continue to be a great plane for someone. BTW enjoy the cold up there. :-)
  16. I was thinking of old "nasty cargo pants" this morning as I was making my way from PBI to TBPB. Of course I was at FL390 and had 3 engines behind me. Lots of open water there bub. Hope you decide to simmer down now for a while.
  17. That's putting it mildly.
  18. Apparently the pilot was seen pulling the airplane out of the hangar by the prop. This was the result.
  19. Well it's a controlled airport so I just do what they tell me. But because of the ridge they generally put you on the right downwind unless you ask for the other and traffic allows. Did I hear somebody say group buy???
  20. Chris I don't know how to tell you this but I'm with the FAA and I'm here to help. AND my airport is one of those 2%.
  21. I have a question. These aoa devices I assume go on one wing and not the nose of the airplane? I also assume then that the device only shows you the angle of attack for that wing? I guess that would mean it would be representative of the other wing also but only in coordinated flight?
  22. Actually Chris, I did take note of it on the climb out and also during landing. Neat I couldn't understand why when we rotated at the just before the end of the runway the thing wasn't screaming, lighting up, smacking us, etc??????
  23. I am on the fence as to the merits of the AOA actually improving the accident stats. This airplane (from a company I used to fly for) not only had an AOA but also a stick pusher and none of it helped. http://aviation-safety.net/database/record.php?id=20051228-0 I do see the merits in the AOA for fine tuning the aircraft approach/climb speeds though.
  24. Easy enough to let subscribers know if there will or won't be flights the following morning.
  25. Very intriguing Seth. I'll bet there are a lot of folks that would do this rather than sit in traffic. Transportation from the airport would be easy to work out. I like the Caravan or a Twin Otter. What's the short field performance on the Caravan with full people and light fuel?
