  1. looks gorgeous
  2. http://www.aviationtoday.com/av/topstories/House-Passes-Small-Airplane-Revitalization-Act_79710.html#.UecMGLTD_IU its about time..... hopefully the senate will follow suit.
  3. Looking at your data I was wondering if the oil pressure constant?
  4. I'm not sure of the relay that you have on your J, but here is the drawing to the relay that's on my F model. 6041H231.pdf
  5. yep, I think the hanger fairies would know how to cut the wires from the existing light and put on new connectors so the new LED light would just plug right in.....what do you think Gary?
  6. I heard that Lycoming increased the red line for oil pressure for new engines installations, along with a higher nominal pressure, by 10 pounds. The rumor (of course Lycoming would never admit to this) is that with a higher pressure, you would get more oil down the guide. Just folklore I guess..... So it has me wondering if that non FAA approved fuel additive made by marvel mystery oil would help? On another note: Has anyone bought this yet? I was thinking it might be good to have at the hanger ...... http://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/topages/valvewobble.php?clickkey=34395
  7. I have no idea how the commercial guys operate, but I have flown a lot with the air force as a crew member. Normally we would cancel once the field was in sight and hand fly it. Would the commercial guys couple up to the ILS even though it was VFR?
  8. If your serious and not just kicking the tires, then it sounds to me like you need to give parker a call. He has a gorgeous aircraft and I don't think you'll find a much better aircraft for your mission.
  9. When your airplane talks to you, you really need to pay attention and listen. Ignoring it and you're just asking for trouble. When I experience my stuck exhaust value, I found out that the piston came up and dinged the valve, the valve stem was deformed, and the push rod was bent. It was all do to the valve guide being reamed out at the minimum tolerance instead of the nominal. I assumed you performed the wobble test and found out that your valve guide was too tight as well?
  10. I had an experience similar to carusoam and I would totally agree with his assessment. I don't think I would want to do that again. Just about the same amount of hours as you too. In my case it ended up being an exhaust valve on my IO-360-A1A.
  11. you call McFarlane, send them your old cable, and have the manufacture a new cable per your requirements as an owner designed part FAR 21.9(5)
  12. Ray, did you ever install the ARI cowl modification?
  13. you will report your GPS altitude not your pressure altitude,
  14. I'd love to see the before and after pictures. Are you going to put in the one piece window for the rear?
  15. if you click on the blue button to the left of an unread topic, it will bring you to the first unread post. works nice.
  16. Yes, you are right, I was. I need to read more carefully.
  17. I don't know what model you have, but if it were my airplane it would be a bad micro switch on the throttle cable. If it happens to you again in flight, gently rock the throttle from left to right to see if that works for you so its not so annoying until you get a chance to repair it.
  18. words of wisdom, The worst thing you could ever do to an airplane is not use it.
  19. ….but if I chose to put on a $2000 dollar roof on my house, it’s my choice and I live with the consequences. I really don't want a rule or a piece of legislation to protect me from myself. I’m an adult and I would like to be responsible for myself. Therefore, if Jethro shows up outside my hanger, I would like to be able to make up my own mind if I want to pay for his service or not. I have my own A and P, which I trust and have used for years. Trust is a great thing and remember, I am ultimately responsible for the airworthiness of my aircraft. As a favor to me, he travels to my hanger to do my annual. Given your scenario I guess I can't use him anymore and I have to use the local guy on the field who has never seen a Mooney before in his life.
  20. Don't you just wish he would stay home. The size and duration of his TFRs are ridiculous.
  21. If the field I was hangared at had an ordinance like that, I would probably find someplace else to nest the old girl. If that was impossible, then you can rest assured I would always find someplace else to perform the work I needed done. This is still America and I have no intention of submitting my freedoms to an idiotic rule like that. Wonder if they let you change your own oil......
  22. what's a roll trim servo?
  23. The proper term is cone head.
  24. Why would a plugged injector cause low compression and air escaping out the oil filter? I’d like to understand the logic. Could it be possibly you have a broken ring and the crud on the injector is a byproduct of that?
