  1. "Miss Mooney" aka my "Mooney pit"
  2. I find for me, I have to run internet explorer in compatibility mode. Go to tools, then compatibility.. see if that helps.
  3. When you operate your aircraft under part 91 rules, which I think most of us here do, the pilot can not abdicate their responsibility of airworthiness to the mechanic. Part 91.3a states "The pilot in command of an aircraft is directly responsible for, and is the final authority as to, the operation of that aircraft." So when you get your aircraft back from the shop it's the pilots responsibility to make sure the work was done right. If you blindly accept that your maintenance shop did the work right without checking it, you are a fool. When you get your aircraft back at annual it's the pilots job to make sure and double check all the ADs were complied with. But in the real world I know, there are pilots and then there are appliance operators.......
  4. The pilot is responsible for the airworthiness of his or her airplane. Not the mechanic.
  5. Sounds like mom, reminding me to zipper up my coat because its cold outside...... Mr. Ellis, really?
  6. They have a citation jet? Really? That kinda pisses me off...... I'd love to hear the justification for that...... Do they have to retain a full time pilot staff too?
  7. I think I would wait until February 1, call them up and tell them you'll renew only if you can get your old number back. How stupid is that letter. Just another indication how out of touch they are.
  8. How do you check that? because there have been times I have seen fuel dribbling out of mine after a shut down on a warm day.
  9. I know that I'm a cranky old fart. At least that's what my kids tell me......
  10. Ok, I just read this and so I feel a little better http://www.aopa.org/News-and-Video/All-News/2013/December/30/2013-advocacy-lays-groundwork-for-a-busy-New-Year.aspx I guess I'm looking some kind of metric or acknowledgement that shows me the AOPA recognizes the issues that concern all of us and what the progress is working them. This article helped with that. I don't really care about hats, magazines, or mugs..... that's not why I'm a member. I do wish they would stop sending me junk in the mail every month trying to sell me services. I don't even open the envelops anymore; I just toss them in the trash. I should be able to opt out so they can save the postage.
  11. yup, that's what I remember, its breathtaking.... Didn't see the gold ball on the top of the peak (just kidding),
  12. beautiful area of the world, where's the video? I'd love to see .....
  13. When sequestration hit and Baracks’ puppet in the FAA decided that he was going to close those GA towers, I called the AOPA up and asked them what they were going to do about it. The AOPA representative asked me “what do you want us to do?” I said how about filling a law suit saying that we (GA) being a small segment of the general population is carrying a disproportionate amount of the burden. He told me you can’t sue the federal government and suggested that I write my congressman. Then a week later some small airports did just that and filed suit. All I would like them to do is something proactive, even if it’s unsuccessful. They are doing nothing about the CBP, nothing about the third class medical, nothing on fighting for us to keep 100LL. All their efforts seem to be focused on reminding me that I need to renew my membership. They do have a nice weekly video clip every week.
  14. every year I contemplate the same thing, and in the end I renew. Perhaps this year I wont and send a message along with you....
  15. My mother always told me that if I didn't have anything nice to say, then I shouldn't say anything at all...............
  16. deleted
  17. I just tried it again, figured I needed to download what I needed to support my aircraft before the data disappeared but the site is not accessible.....

    Beer Stop

    Now that looks like fun!!!
  19. I have two BNC connectors in the cockpit, one goes to the radio, the other to the antenna. During normal ops I fly with a jumper installed. In the case of a power failure, I remove the jumper and connect the handle held to the external antenna. works... I have the ICOM A24
  20. I did. It was not as dramatic as I thought it would be. There was no sputter, no warning, the engine RPM just started to decrease rather quickly; just like you turned the key off. Reached down, switched the tanks and the engine came right back to life. When I refilled the tank with fuel I recorded the level after every 4 gallons to make myself a graph of fuel level vs fuel quantity. Its not something I would do everyday but I had to experience it at least once.
  21. I can't even get a tie down for $65, I'm jealous.
  22. There's a micro switch on the throttle cable just behind the instrument panel.
  23. Will micro mesh or this novus system take out the haze in an older window?
