  1. As a side note, when you get ready to switch your plugs, the tempest plugs require a deeper socket than the champions. I got surprised.
  2. Taking the cue, I don't know of anyone I can recommend.
  3. http://www.avidyne.com/support/Avidyne_OutofWarranty.pdf $1200 flat rate for out of warranty repair of an IFD540, with no indemnification release to sign.
  4. That's exactly right.
  5. I don't think you should be bending anything. We don't own Cessna's.....My experience was similar to Hank's. With a correctly working PC system, the ball will be centered. Do you have a working PC system? If not, I would start with repairing that.
  6. Each year I write them a check and I ask myself, what have they actually accomplished? They talk about all the things they are going to do but never seem to follow through on execution.
  7. maybe this doesn't apply to your aircraft, but if it does check to see if your aircraft in compliance with AD 75-23-04?
  8. Byron I really don't think this is a benefit, actually I think it is a detriment. I hope you never experience it, but I really don't think you're going to like the failure mode.
  9. I know we have been over this before but it sure would be nice to know what IA's and A&P's to stay away from... maybe 201er can do it with a poll
  10. Brittain is an awesome little company. I'd just give ceci or jerry a call at 918-836-7701
  11. Doesn't look like there is http://www.zepcommercial.com/msds/united_states/english/Foaming-Glass-Cleaner-English-MSDS-ZUFGC19.pdf just alcohol
  12. I hope it has the same minty fresh smell.....
  13. Actually they are not using sequestion as an excuse. http://www.ainonline.com/aviation-news/ain-news-live/eaa-airventure/2013-07-30/avidyne-updates-programs They are just late, that happens with development programs.....
  14. They completed flight test and are waiting for the FAA pilots evaluation. If there are comments, they will be folded into the OFP. If not, they are ready to begin formal software qual.
  15. I do think the waiver sucks as written but remember no one is forcing you to sign the waiver. The company is offering reduced costs if you do sign. They are reducing their risks by reducing their exposure and passing that savings on to the consumer. If you don't like it, don't sign. and remember the pilot is ultimately responsible for his or her aircraft.
  16. the wing spar does look like it was designed by a bridge builder and not an aeronautical engineer.... my gut tells me that there is a lot of design margin there.
  17. I have the older klixon switch that are both a switch and circuit breaker like these http://www.sensata.com/klixon/circuit-breaker-aircraft-7270.htm These switches are bimetallic devices and generate heat as current flows through them. So when there is too much current draw they generate heat and pop. As they age they get corrosion inside and the internal resistance goes up. That higher than normal resistance also generates heat. So old corroded switches will pop even when there is not an excessive current in the circuit. I've had to replaced a few already and they aren't cheap. about a 100 bucks a switch.
  18. The lens cover might be an after market mod by aero resources inc. I would give them a call

  20. What can or should I do to prevent it from happening to me? Use that corrosion X stuff?
  21. I'm sorry, I know that maintenance can be discouraging ....what's Inter-granular corrosion?
  22. I do agree putting all of your eggs in the GPS basket is foolish, I don't think the FAA will decommission all of the VORs. I'm hoping there will be a subset maintained to mitigate the solar flare event.
  23. for those that are going, can you post here what MAC's message is for those of us who are not?
