  1. you should be able to pull wire along the same nav light wire . the holes usually that the wires go through should have grommets to avoid chaffing. Safety wire is your best friend when it comes to finding / fishing / pulling electric wires along the leading edge. Along with some patience.
  2. depends how the "wings" of the cotter pin are bent: if they are bent as a circle ... they are a total pain to remove. They sometimes need to be cut to be removed ! if they are bent to form a T ... it is a bit easier but you still need pliers if they are bent to form a very acute V, they will stay in place and are easy to remove by just pinching them cotter pin does not to be bent a lot to stay in place for the seat rail hole (different than for example the cotter pin for castle nut that keeps the tire in place )
  3. Curious why you don’t trust cotter pins . Very cheap and do the job .
  4. i have a spare one. Will send picture and part number Sunday if still interested (out of town now)
  5. did you do this training just to learn ? for an IA renewal ? worth the $$ ? just curious
  6. anything feedback on the IO-390 in a J? they must have gathered enough feedback / issue by now
  7. The chipped paint probably creates more drag than the MB antenna
  8. AC 90-66B encourages standard pattern at uncontrolled airports. Straight in landings are authorized but it seems that the burden of not disrupting traffic is on the pilot executing a straight in
  9. WVI is outside the mode C / ADS-B ring . Also, even with ADS-B , I would not rely on it . i am not sure a clear final at 3 miles equals to priority.
  10. Sadly , a basic 91.13 (a) violation
  11. The range / rpm should be in the STC that was applied for the installation. The same prop can be installed in different planes and have different ranges . also, your POH should also include the information ( part of complying with an STC is to amend the POH when needed) if an STC was not used for the install, then the TCDS will have the markings required.
  12. I would make sure the console is seated properly. The case in which the console is housed is not very well made and the connection sometimes get loose.
  13. the machine screw that attaches the bulkhead to the bracket seems to be a different color and not a standard MS type screw with a shiny silver color Or may be it is just the picture
  14. I made a pdf document with the pictures / info that used to be in this thread in preparation of my still to happen overhaul (although in my case it will be an IO-390 but the accessories panel is the same as the IO-360-A3B6. ). happy to share it with you if you want it. Pm me if you do.
  15. Not tool but parts … I would be ready to replace the machine screws in the belly panels most shops during annuals force them in . it will be a pain the first year but removing / reinstalling the belly panels will be a breeze the following years
  16. maybe remove it and see if there is a difference . put it back if if i don't like how it feels
  17. What would be the reasons to remove ? apart from a few lbs saving I still have it installed
  18. Anyone still have the shock absorber on the nose wheel ?
  19. The big agenda item in A&P IA renewal seminars these past years has been STC compatibility A shop should check that an STC based install is compatible with all previous STCs. Most examples they gives are incompatibilities related to airframe mods ( like wing tip tanks , vortex generators, etc… )
  20. The Castle nut may need to be adjusted
  21. Looks like you already have a very good avionics already if you really want to be busy doing something : 1) remove the ADF. Yes, remove the ADF and declutter the panel and lose a few pounds. 2) remove the TC and replace with a G5 configured as an AI or an RCAllen AI 3) install an intercom PSE or Garmin
  22. I am not sure I understand the problem or the question
  23. The stall warning is an airworthiness item. Make sure the repair is well documented
  24. to address point 1 , the G5 would require another button
