  1. Thanks . Keep me posted
  2. Nope, no reason. I didn’t know it would be available as my google search did not return anything available for purchase .
  3. can anyone help me understand this peculiar class C boundary ? GPS precision challenge ? Or Maybe just to keep Portland weird ?
  4. Anyone knows what the part number for the photodetector in the KX-155 is ? the BK part number is 134-05005-0002 but I am looking for the corresponding commercially available item part number
  5. I think the main value of the 406 is that the install imposes that you have an activation switch in the cockpit. It should be part of the pre-ditching checklist instead of waiting for a shock activation.
  6. I must be blind ... but where is the antenna ?
  7. This should help …. rs232 channel 2 for gps position the Arinc in config is only needed if you have connected the wires for TIS-A traffic obviously KT74 Configuration Screen Shots.pdf
  8. That’s why you should never have a hard landing , you never know what that can do to a radio . From now on , I should buy a brand new plane each time I go flying
  9. i don't think there is such thing as a simple adjustment in the FARs. But i may be wrong (not looking for any kind of wrath).
  10. not said in the nicest way ... but i agree with you
  11. Avgas being a good solvent itself , I still wonder how the solvent evaporates it would work on a top dry panel , but what about a wet panel
  12. I have a GI-106A for sale. Located on the left coast
  13. So the Permatex 3 works (sets and seals) even if it it wet ? it is not a 2 compound mix so I wondering what makes it set
  14. would Permatex 3 work for screws/panels that are under the wing ? The upper panels (unless the tank is full to the nose) would be dry of fuel but i suppose the lower panels are almost always wet, especially near the fuel drain
  15. there should be a gear safety bypass to press (so you don't have to blow into the tube) used for gear cycling (or if the pitot / static system fails in the air)
  16. I am not an early adopter, and I sm in no rush , I will wait to see that v9.0 works as advertised in devices built today like the iphones , you cannot downgrade to a previous version …
  17. L’équivalent … pratiquement de l’autre côté de la planète
  18. I guess they can procure the accessories panel or get it from an other mothballed engine but by then , I am not sure what the saving can be. And I am not sure how that works with the part and serial number plate. does the data plate remain the D engine one ? unless there is a SB that allows for a conversion path. Probably only lycoming service centers can do would be my guess.
  19. Lycoming accepts the A3B6D as a core for the A3B6 as well as for the IO-390-A3A6 converting from the A3B6D to the A3B6 or to the IO-390-A3A6 is the same process ( governor ratio, brackets, hoses …) . The accessories panel is the same but I guess it has to be a factory overhaul
  20. The TCDS is a good source of information for this type of question A3B6 or A3B6D or A1B6D can be found on any J model ( independently of the serial number) No specific indication of when the factory switched
  21. I did replace my TC with a G5+Battery (so replaced a belt with a belt + suspenders) Vacuum instruments are on a long way out ... but are still here and are great suspenders. There is a definite benefit in removing the vacuum system (less weight, less clutter in the accessories panel), but that benefit is wiped out if you replace it with a second alternator.
  22. Isn’t installing a second alternator defeating the purpose ? no gain ( clutter or weight ) vs keeping the vacuum pump. the instruments battery is the backup . If my alternator went, I would find the closest airport or VFR conditions asap
  23. I don’t know if they all make TBO, but mine is at close to 2400 hours and still running strong . I will know the compression / oil analysis in a few days as my annual is due. my sense is that accessories (fuel pump , governor, magneto , …) will require overhaul first and it may make sense for me to overhaul the engine rather than throw money here and there at accessories
  24. That was years ago … but flying from TX to CA gave the time to learn the ins and outs of the GNS 430 I had just installed
