  1. Two shims fell out of the bottom mounts when I replaced mine and I should have put them back in. That's a project for annual this year. The nose clears, but just barely and three hours of flight later it hasn't moved. I also think it is contributing to a lack of cooling.
  2. How do you think they afford the hot cookies, bottled water and mouthwash in the restrooms? Frankly, I think they just put up with (low end (?)) GA because they have to.
  3. There's supposed to be a leather boot?
  4. Don't get us started. Oh hell, why not...hows that Plessey spring holding up?
  5. Although I don't decry the fact that my über-scientist son considers engineering to be janitorial, congrats to Don!
  6. It's just business. As for uAviaonix having the resources to defend, I doubt it. I predict an early settlement.
  7. GUILTY as charged
  8. When was it replaced? Mine had the original in it (+45 years or so) and I had it replaced a couple of years ago and it works perfectly and will be good for another 45+ years. I believe it came from LASAR.
  9. OK, in the interest of fairness... Why Women Prefer Airplanes Airplanes can be turned off when you don’t wish to fly. An airplane doesn’t “let down” before it’s time. With an airplane, size matters. An airplane takes gas, a man passes it. Airplanes can be overhauled when the engine sputters. Airplanes do not perform over-gross. Airplanes don’t come with drinking buddies. Airplanes eventually stop whining. Airplanes don’t use drag, thrust, wait and balance as a checklist. Airplanes know what a final approach is. Airplanes don’t mind if you position and hold. In an airplane a soft field landing isn’t a disappointment. Airplanes don’t mind if you’d rather just cuddle. Only toy airplanes run by remote control.
  10. That is one incredibl-E that you have listed.
  11. This seemed appropriate for this thread...apologies to the (human) ladies present. Why men prefer airplanes over women Airplanes do not get mad if you “touch and go”. Airplanes do not have Mother-in-Laws. Airplanes do not take forever to get ready. Airplanes do not care how many other airplanes you have flown with before. Behavior of airplanes follows logical rules. The maintenance of an airplane is cheaper than the maintenance of a woman. Airplanes come with instructions. An airplane will kill you quickly...a woman takes her time.
  12. She's sipping Aeroshell in the photo, not quite as pricey as champagne.
  13. Absolutely. Just spiritual.
  14. Interesting thread. My kids, for some unknown reason, could not wait to leave. When my daughter turned sixteen and we gave her a car, that was the last we saw of her. My son left for UT-Austin at the tender age of 16 and that was pretty much the last we saw of him. Now they both live in Manhattan, have advanced degrees, busy jobs and visits are just a couple of times a year. Big house, two busy Boomers, it's nice--I like my space as does my wife. More time for flying? No, need to wait for retirement for that and it is imminent. She's first, this January, but that won't change the flying
  15. Did @chrixxer ever get his Mooney off the airbase?
  16. Mea culpa.
  17. Not this one: I calibrated mine and added an overlay scale and easily get within 0.5 gallon or accuracy.
  18. I don't know if this is what I need to clear the haze: Lucas Oil Slick Mist is a polymer paint gloss intensifier, which can be used on other surfaces such as glass, chrome and vinyl decals. Use Slick Mist as a traditional wax, quick detail spray or spray it on your vehicle between rinsing and drying for the easiest polish job ever. That's right! Just spray it on a wet or dry surface and wipe it off. Slick Mist out-performs the competition and will leave your finish slicker and shinier than any product on the market, with long lasting protection. You and Slick Mist can give any machine an extreme gloss fast! Premium paint gloss intensifier. Great for motorcycles, cars, trucks, boats, and airplanes. Shines and protects in one easy application. Excellent results on chrome, glass and vinyl decals. Use on wet or dry surfaces. Quick and easy. Ease of application.
  19. What material specifically? Spruce? Lowes? McFarland? I frankly think this may be my problem, the silicone stuff is just too 'floppy'. <<cue the cockpit humor>>
  20. Do you know what they used to strip it with? Gorgeous finale BTW.
  21. Sorry to hear that, you are so young. Hang in there.
  22. I've always felt that my windows were 'hazy'. I've never touched them with anything except to dry after washing with a soft towel. Is there a product that might remove the haze, or is this just old plexi?
  23. Not to hijack this thread or be nosy, Parker, but I don't understand this.
  24. ...do Sun 'n Fun next year and drive down from Orlando.
  25. If I could just put the AMG's engine in the E. Would probably rip the wings off...
