  1. Close , but not quite... The sides of the fuselage are not stressed because of the cage.....therefore they are a lot more flexible and pick up harmonic vibrations much more easily than a typical monocouqe airframe..
  2. Great thread , After you replace the fasteners , be careful not to overtighten them.... I found that using a drill driver with a clutch setting appropriate to the application , keeps me from overtightening them and breaking/stripping them....
  3. You are going to love it , as soon as you master flying it!!!!
  4. My E has the soundproofing (foil backed foam) but it is still loud as hell....I couldnt fly it with out a set of ANR headsets..... I think most of the noise is from the prop.... As my Bo is a three blade , and my E is a two blade , and the Bo I could actually fly (comfortably) without the headsets ,
  5. Trade it in for a Bonanza.......
  6. I would be willing to guess 1 piece of glass would be enough to total one of these... I bet a windshield half is over 10 large...... If it is even available, And no way in hell the feds would field approve any piece of the pressure vessel ........
  7. 76 ?????? J ???????
  8. I dont think there ever was an uglier plane thane the M-22 .... You have to see it in person to get the full appreciation of how ugly it really is......Its even uglier than a C-337 Mixmaster......
  9. Good luck finding a 3500 , aint happening , the cheapest one I found was over 5000 , and the early 3500 still has the bulb in it....I am in Jersey , if you are ever near , I can take you up .... The guy on Beechtalk is Erik E and that was two years ago , I looked but felt it wasnt worth it as the 3308 does the same thing except for the GPSS......
  10. Its a spare I keep around , realized probably wont ever need it.... Check out that ground speed...
  11. Selling KLN90B King IFR GPS , Comes with unit , tray ,connector , data card , Antenna ,Manual , quick reference , and Annunciators/switches.... Tested and works well , These units are still supported by King , and Jeppeson , A very inexpensive way to get your airplane up to /G status.......Call Alan 856 419 5209 ...900.00
  12. Selling Sandel 3308 HSI system , includes Sandel 3308 , Honeywell KG102A Remote gyro , KMT112 Azimuth sensor , 2600 for everything , You can fly it in my airplane ... If youve never flown one of these , it is amazing...... This 3308 has the 2.3 software upgrade , so it has all the gps waas annunciators built into its program....Will marry seamlessly with a GNS series Gps/Nav........This is certified primary....These are preprogrammed to work with almost all GPS units , and almost all autopilots........ 2700.00 Call Alan 856 419 5209....
  13. The stall warning is an Angle of attack instrument....
  14. All kidding aside , I dont climb 25 squared , that is not 100% ...I climb out at WOT full mixture , full prop.... Until I have a safe altitude.....Nothing wrong with LOP , but not on climb out..... Be safe , not sorry......
  15. Well at least if there are stamps all over my plane , I will know who did it....LMAO!!!!
  16. Lean of peak on climb out is not full power..... Its less than 100% power........ that means reduced climb....... That means reduced time to climb..... That means more risk.....
  17. It amazes me that people are basic future decisions on previous poor ones...... Flying has dangers , the training is about MINIMIZING RISK........Flying an extra 30 minutes on a trip to minimize risk is the correct decision , REASON IF you lose power you can land on ground , or close to shore...... The reality is this , if you have to ditch in the middle of lake michigan , your chances of survival are slim.... If you land on the shore your chances of perishing are pretty slim..........
  18. I would like to thank you for shooting the video , I have noticed that my plane has been a little slow , and when I watched the video of my landing , I noticed the step was not retracted , ...... Very cool...
  19. The parts are supported by a company called Univair , as far as the mooney specific parts , I think you would be screwed.....
  20. Reducing fuel flow does not reduce stress in the climb ,it increases it with higher operating temps... the extra fuel cools the engine , there two ways to cool the engine at max power , Air (lowering the nose ) fuel (richer mixture) ........ Seroiusly , if worrying about a gallon or two of fuel , verses safety , you need to find a safer hobby.....Perhaps fishing , or collecting stamps....
  21. Remember this , Engines usually fail on climb out , and power changes , The little bit of fuel you save on a 2000 foot climb out is nothing compared to the altitude that might save your life if you need it.... Climb out at full power , 100% If you can do this lop go for it , I dont think you can.... Climb out full rich , when you have enough altitude to make a safe forced landing , transition into a cruise climb and run whatever power setting you want.... Safety trumps economy...
  22. I just bought the JPI upgrade for my 700 , to the 830 . its a trade in program , spruce gets 1060 $ , JPI refunds me 200 $ so my net cost is 860 , I would bite , but my install is on my bonanza , so it is a 6cyl installation....
  23. Whos going to reading tomorrow,,
  24. Its a 40 hour engine, I will probably just fly it another 100 hours and then sell it next year ,
