  1. I do not lock the baggage door and I have never had it open on me by itself. This past annual I installed a pull ring to open it from the inside, should emergency egress through that opening ever be required. That would not work if the door was locked with the key.
  2. I bought a Comant to place under the belly (Clarence calls them "eye pokers") and used the antenna from the removed marker beacon. The cockpit end of the coax sits next to my centre post, ready to hook up if needed. ICOM A6 with the headset connectors. Does not go through the Audio Panel. Receives from over 10 miles away and they will receive my transmission around 6 miles away.
  3. Can you spell EI Tach? Second set of repairs to mine and the needle was bouncing like it was in its own turbulence. Fuggedaboudit....... Clarence put one of these in. Now I can set the governor to within 10 RPM.
  4. + 1 for Phil on supporting the Halos.
  5. Where is Philly? That's easy. Just find the airport where they send you around in ever decreasing circles to avoid the heavy iron.
  6. Love to go but will not be in North America then.
  7. Narco radios are notoriously noisy in that their internals are not as well shielded as they might be for the panel environment. To make matters worse, Garmin does not do a very good job of shielding their internals from EMI. I solved my problem by replacing my GMA 340 with a PS 8000. It did not matter after that how noisy the radios were. The PS 8000 filtered it all out.
  8. An accounts receivable ledger? I don't know how you do it, but my money going to the Mooney is not really a receivable.
  9. +1 for the Mooney PPP course. Best course to learn how to respect, and not be scared of, your airplane. Lots of stalls. Lots of practice at solving problems requiring "aviate - navigate - communicate" approaches. "Oops - you just lost the engine. Good thing you are in gliding distance to that airfield close by. Show me how you will set up the aircraft, glide to an appropriate approach point, conduct the approach, and land safely."
  10. Ya, like trying to get close to a Pilatus PC-6 spinning prop at 90 mph and missing it by 8 feet or so.
  11. Its not "virgins." It is "Virginians." They did not know how to spell back in the day..... Just sayin'
  12. Yup. 100 hrs or annually, whichever comes first. Just like y'all.
  13. It really is all about the journey.
  14. Ya but the torque setting for the little itty bitty oil screen housing bolts is 96 inch pounds. I can just about guarantee (without actually knowing the number) that the setting for the spark plugs will be significantly higher and both jobs probably cannot be done using the same tool. I could be wrong, but I would check that one torque wrench can do both jobs before buying just the one. Edit: https://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/pdf/championapp.pdf indicates it to be between 360 and 420 inch pounds - beyond the range of my small torque wrench.
  15. I still have the torque wrench I bought when I had the screen. Today I have the filter. Much easier.
  16. I went through the same thing as Yves. Wound up (pun intended) with two N/S clocks for the left yoke mount. It was going to cost north of $300 to get each fixed, so I gave them to Clarence (he was having similar difficulties for the one he was putting in his RV) and I bought one of these. http://www.asa2fly.com/Flight-Timer-2-P599.aspx Now I have a KR 87 and it comes with everything I need in a flight timer and a stopwatch. So this one is no longer on my yoke (making room for my iPad Mini Ram Mounted Situational Awareness Device with Foreflight) and I have offered it to Yves. Even if he had to buy one, he could still retain his membership in the CB club.
  17. Paul: I just like the fact that you provide your girl with the "fast horse" part of the bargain. Not just a Mooney to fly in, but adventures she would not otherwise get a chance to experience. We are the same, my girl and I. Some adventures before I retired from the Army and some adventures when I got involved in international recognition of national quality infrastructure. Her bucket list is almost complete. Couple more places to visit and one of them gets done next year this time.
  18. Mooneymite: My experience as well, just not in ASW. Shoved into positions of responsibility when we are young will only result in bringing everyone home again if we listen to the experience of our team members. The only thing they have not been given is overall responsibility for the success of the team - that is ours alone to bear and we cannot abrogate it. But listening to them and learning from them makes success attainable under such circumstances. BTW: Thank you for your service.
  19. Outermarker: It is on page 30 of my POH attached: M20EPOH.pdf
  20. Me too for the Zeftronics. Also got a Plane Power alternator kit to replace the generator later on.
  21. Hi all: Thought I would share this with you, from a Mooney Facebook post. A lovely C model in an Acclaim paint scheme taken by Rick Page near KCXO (Conroe-North Houston Regional Airport).
  22. Bob: My '65 E ASI is in MPH. But your Aspen is in Kts. Did you make this change, or did your E model come with Kts on its original ASI?
