  1. SkyNew, What's your budget 1, 2 or 3 hundred AMU? If your not sure, the J market is much more flexible and liquid than the others that you mentioned. If it doesn't work out, you can sell it near what you paid for it . Just make sure you have a "good" PPI before you plunk down your hard earned cash. If an engine overhaul will bust the bank, then the overhaul of the other engines will break it and bury it where you won't ever find it... Factory OH for an Acclaim is $75k (approx). Includes the two turbos and two alternators... What are you thinking so far? Best regards, -a-
  2. Joe, Thanks for posting the flight plan. That helps visualize the trip... Best regards, -a-
  3. 0 SMOH Bravo is listing at $200k or better at AAA...No Garmin or Aspen... José, for $85k the one pointed out above needs your eyes on it! It has Aspen and Garmin... It may be a little crispy around the edges... Best regards, -a-
  4. Alun, Do you still have the bi-plane? Best regards, -a-
  5. Which is the more difficult conversion... Upgrading a TLS to a Bravo? -or- Converting a 201 pilot to a turbo long body pilot??? Best regards, -a-
  6. Nicely done, David. My old C would have appreciated that. Best regards, -a-
  7. Long body with 2700rpm and TopProp is my favorite attributes of the O3... Leather interior and paint can be added by an artful shop and a G1000 isn't high on my list. All can be added to the Eagle, beware STCs or $TCs apply! One thing to keep in mind, according to the FAA, the Ovation is an M20R and the Eagle is an M20S. You will want to make sure that any STCs you have in mind will apply to the airframe you are looking at... I briefly considered turbo normalizing my R. Unfortunately, the TN IO550(G) is not available to the R's A/F. That would have been a hoot. For a few additional MUs getting Acclaim power without the G1000 headaches!!! Cris' Eagle has eye opening performance... My thoughts, -a-
  8. Without WAAS, I am without LPV. It looks like LPV is going to continue with the roll-out on a wide scale? I don't like adding the cost of a GTN, just to get the WAAS value. Next best solution is a used 430W. The used 430Ws are holding their value pretty well, installation is still high... Is the Aspen WAAS capable on it's own? Or that is a requirement to come from somewhere else? Best regards, -a-
  9. Asside from Garmin GTN... What are the options for adding WAAS? I have nice BK com radios, but no WAAS... I have WAAS on my portable Garmin and SkyRadar/iPad.... Adding an Aspen along with GPSS with a source of WAAS would be a nice upgrade for modern navigation. Don't get me wrong, I like the GTN series and have no allegiance to ADF and that other device that gives speed/distance to a ground based antenna. Best regards, -a-
  10. Rob, welcome aboard! Your writing is so professional, it was read as a marketing ploy. The place sounds like an aviators paradise I hope you get a great turn-out. Best regards, -a-

I carry the POH in the plane because I know where it is and it's easy to find. I keep a copy of everything else on my iPad where I can read it wherever I am. I like the idea of searching on the iPad. I have no idea if it works. Long manuals can take a long time to leaf through on the old iPad... Best regards, -a-
  12. Before - eat normally, hit the bathroom often... During - Breathe, think, repeat... After - follow procedures until after the plane is tied down and locked up. Celebrate, start training.... Good luck, -a-
  13. They don't seem to have a way of singling out their potential customers. Corporate, day fliers... Well off, day fliers... High preference for service, newness and readiness... Low preference for ownership, speed or efficiency... There are Mooney pilots and Airshares is the Anti-Mooney (opposite of Mooney) pilot's solution. The owner cared for Mooney, is a very efficient traveling machine. It is hard to compete with us on efficiency. Best regards, -a-
  14. Interesting point Edgar, the 12D is digital and designed at a different time. Partially, at least. Best regards, -a-
  15. It's not the single door as much as the low wing configuration. Get a Mooney for speed and a Cardinal for ease of entry... Good luck, -a-
  16. Parker's home town??? SC00/near Woodruff, SC -a-
  17. Narco 12+ radios didn't age well. They bled signals even when not transmitting. They blocked my portable GPS signals. Narco 11 com radios weren't any better. The company didn't age well either. They charged me $50 to look at and diagnose broken plastic parts on the "knobs" to tell me the cheap plastic parts were broken. I knew that already... I like to support old companies, but when they don't help themselves, they will fail by their own lack of effort. They kept my old radio. Too expensive to send back... This was My M20C experience from the early 2000s. The company filed for bankruptcy after that, no hope of reorganizing. Best regards, -a-
  18. Don't fly into icing conditions or thunderstorms with wooden tail Mooneys... Pay the extra that is required to get the all metal / higher HP version of a Mooney. It's usually better to do this type of research prior to purchasing, no? Best regards, -a-
  19. Nice job Paul! What engine settings were you using during your flight? Best regards, -a-
  20. I had a narco radio that would interfere with a portable's GPS reception. It happened in the same place as I tuned in a particular frequency. It didn't matter which GPS antenna I used, on the back or sitting on the glare shield... When you lose GPS signal strength, try turning off your radios, momentarily of course. Best regards, -a-
  21. Many people disparage the two bladed prop on Eagles following the same logic... It turns out the argument isn't as easy as two vs three blades. It is a complex decision of which prop, on which plane, with which engine do you have/want followed by what are your priorities and how much do you want to spend? As far as looks go, the four bladed, composite prop on the long body is pretty cool...in a P51 sort of way... Good luck, -a-

Ibooks as well... This way I can refer to them in my office or kitchen table where the hard copies just don't go. Best regards, -a-
  23. If you have the split folding back seats... You would want to mount the ski tube a little off center or extra wide to allow a passenger back there as well? Caution of course, when filling with three people, while flying /landing at high altitude airports... Best regards, -a-
