  1. Interesting concern… We do have a place to look that up too… Did you mean less accurate? because it’s precision seems to be identical throughout the range as the same needle, rotates in front of the same hash marks, that are equally spread, from one end of the gauge to the other… PIC is part of the precision, as is parallax…. Unlikely less accurate as well… Since the stall speed is probably the most important piece of information delivered by that instrument… Errors in airspeed are pretty well known… because we have a couple that get documented in our POHs… Some of the older Mooney instrument errors are a small bit different than newer Mooney instruments… I May have to look them up later for a nice review…. Best regards, -a-
  2. Oddly, That seems to have the contact @Gert… A long term member we have been talking with about this project for years… His current advertised price is $80 per donut… Anyone want to ask about availability? I haven’t spoken with Gert lately… Best regards, -a-
  3. @Cruiser how many years do they have on them? They don’t appear to be very compressed at all… LBs have a tendency to compress the donuts more than SBs… Best regards, -a-
  4. Mike, What audio panel / intercom / headset do you have? For some reason, getting side tone to work right is a chore…. Best regards, -a-
  5. At this price…. We are going to see Many Mooneys sitting on old donuts that are out of spec… I’m pretty sure we can follow the OPP guidelines and produce an equivalent part… a whole lot easier than the other parts that have been successfully made via OPP guidelines… I would like to see a set of donuts well under an AMU… so it doesn’t ring alarms with the finance administrator…. How re-usable are the steel(?) washers that they all come with? Are we all tossing out a set of expensive washers with that too? PP thinking out loud only… Best regards, -a-
  6. Oil life in most cases is pretty benign… except for the oil that gets to cool the very hot parts…. Where those hot parts are above the degradation temp of the oil itself… The amount of contact time in those areas is important… keep the oil flowing… The two places… 1) Exhaust valves 2) Turbo bearings If you find chunks of carbon in the shape of a valve guide… it may be time to ream the guides… to keep the oil flowing… As always…our oil survives this pretty well… when everything is working as expected… Under most conditions… an ordinary descent and landing has cooled the oil as well as possible… no need to add an additional cool down period…. As far as lead exposure goes… I watched a video about doing body work on classic cars using molten lead… how it was much better than the modern body fillers… no mention if that was real lead, or breathing precautions, or venting the area… Tin cans for food storage used to be welded using lead… PP thoughts only, not a mechanic… Best regards, -a- W.H.O. Thoughts on Pb in the human body…. Why it has a tendency to be around a long time… Key facts Lead is a cumulative toxicant that affects multiple body systems and is particularly harmful to young children. Lead in the body is distributed to the brain, liver, kidney and bones. It is stored in the teeth and bones, where it accumulates over time. Human exposure is usually assessed through the measurement of lead in blood. Lead in bone is released into blood during pregnancy and becomes a source of exposure to the developing fetus. There is no level of exposure to lead that is known to be without harmful effects. Lead exposure is preventable.
  7. Nice catch! Great pic too. No fire… No sleeping pilot… which CO monitor picked up the early warning? (Brand, model, or pic?) What reading did you see? Did you get an alarm with that? Let me invite @DanM20C to the discussion… Best regards, -a-
  8. @gummirat was getting closer to being able to supply donuts for the Mite community… He has rubber manufacturing skills to make a decent donut to meet OPP specs… LORD needs competition… Go capitalism! Best regards, -a-
  9. Wowwwwww! This is one of those projects I’d like to send to Al Mooney to get his thoughts! Where did the Cad drawing, 3D printing, machining, and finishing skills come from? Hobby? Professional? Outsourced from a good idea? Thanks for sharing the details. Best regards, -a-
  10. How many lies does the federal government take… To allow a YouTuber to make an honest penny… possible support for plea deal… 1) Its not my fault… all the 29 year old kids were doing it. 2) It’s completely safe… I own my own parachute. 3) Nobody will remember my self centered act… after I make a ton of pennies. 4) Its not a landmark case… where the next one will be more stupid, more harmful, and include innocent people or property… Good luck Trevor, you left your brain at the airport that day… How many hours of public service does he get? Tempered PP thoughts only, not a lawyer… Best regards, -a-
  11. Harry’s 100th birthday flight is etched in my memory of things I would like to achieve…. Best regards, -a-
  12. Great pic! The Mooney wears it best! What we need…. A comparison to the Mooney with the stinger tail… I bet it is a very close match for the image. Best regards, -a-
  13. Way to go Gus! That looks fantastic! I was using a runway this week that had very green grass along the edges…. Most likely artificial turf, about a yard wide…. Most likely a method of keeping the edge of the runway from breaking up… the soil all around the area is beach sand. The fake grass mat will do a nice job of keeping the sandy soil in place. 26N Ocean City, NJ… So…. I landed near plastic! Best regards, -a-
  14. Follow up video from the pilot of the accident aircraft… video was posted on an interesting fire fighter’s YouTube channel… the Keoni the YTer specializes in firefighting aviation accidents… Pilot experienced the affects of a surprise tailwind…. Central Jersey Airport… 47N… Best regards, -a-
  15. Way cooool rbp! EIS supplies tons of real data to work with. Amazing detail. Best regards, -a-
  16. Great follow up Barzook! Thanks for sharing the details! Best regards, -a-
  17. The best ones…. Are artfully cut to include words like ‘GoodYear’…. Proudly displayed. -a-
  18. Ever compare the flight track of your plane following an analog VOR course…. Over a chart with straight lines …? Then compare that to the flight track of your plane following the GPS course… The standard width of Victor skyways is based on the accuracy of the analog system’s scalloped shapes….. We sometimes have to switch between using the VOR at the beginning of the pair to the one at the end, near the half way point…. (As charted) This is done because the plane will follow the scalloped shape outside the standard width of the Victor skyway…. Are we discussing the same thing? Best regards, -a-
  19. To find what you wrote… click on your avatar… it lists thing you wrote…. like magic!!! -a-
  20. Secret sauce for searching MS… Use Google and search…. mooney space ptt switch or use MS search… PTT switch, but don’t search for just PTT. The three letter words can’t be found… -a- https://mooneyspace.com/search/?q="PTT switch"&quick=1&updated_after=any&sortby=relevancy
  21. Turtlepac for those trips where your plane doesn’t have the fuel legs that the trip requires… also rentable, it sits on the back seat, or baggage compartment… WnB is important as well… Best regards, -a-
  22. Steve, Consider putting the date in the title line… You can edit the title line by editing the first post… the title is attached to it… The edit menu is a few dots in the righ top corner of the post…. ‘…’ Best regards, -a-
  23. M20Ds still standing on their fixed legs are super rare! We have three in the US… I have seen two of them… (one has nice pics around here somewhere) There is another MSer currently discussing his squishy pedal challenge at the same time… Following Doc’s advice above is really helpful for finding the place where an air bubble is often trapped. Getting the bubble out will get the pedal to firm up nicely… Search for brake fluid 83232 to find that other conversation… If you can use break vs. brake properly… you automatically get an English award for MSers that like their word of the day exercise! This one catches a lot of people… that only speak English… Best regards, -a-
  24. Great pirep affricate! Let’s see if @M20Doc has seen that bolt come loose before… (M20M oil scavenger pump) Best regards, -a-
