  1. Byron, The EI tach doesn't do that unless you go over a certain RPM for more than 20 seconds or so. I want to say it's 2000 RPM.
  2. I'd order a different color one for every day of the week, since this is the style shirt I wear to work most days out of the week when I'm just in the office and not headed out to a very formal meeting.
  3. I liked the EI Digital tach I had installed on my M20J. You can pre-program your existing airframe time, too.
  4. Do you have fuel flow instrumentation?
  5. I'm glad Garmin is continuing to update this product line, but am bit disappointed to see that Garmin's new Nav/Comm products only come equipped with a 2 place intercom. It sure would be nice to ditch the factory David Clark that's in my plane, but I need a 4-place system. http://www.avweb.com/avwebflash/news/Garmin_Rolls_Out_New_Navcomms_208010-1.html Would sure be a nice unit to place below the Avidyne IFD440 I've preordered... But it looks like Avidyne might win my Audio Panel / Intercom $$ if I elect to purchase that in the next couple years. http://www.avidyne.com/products/amx240/index.asp
  6. Jose, There is no reason to fly the M20K (210hp) over the max weight. That extra 10 horsepower comes in handy at weights over 2900 lb. And honestly, 220 hp is what any 2900 lb Mooney really needs. I had an M20J that could fly at 2900 lbs. Sure, the climb rate was 500-700'/min on a hot day. But it just takes one lapse in climb performance judgement to wish you didn't have that extra soul onboard. Even though the airplane may not be out of CG limits for the higher weight in question, there is no substitute for having enough power.
  7. Tim's a good guy to do business with.
  8. It needs an airstair and likely club seating to make it marketable. You need to get PA46 cabin room at a minimum to take the market share.
  9. That would be quite a machine to own...
  10. Let's talk about a handful...take off in a crosswind with a tailwheel Grumman Widgeon, land it on a couple lakes, then land it back on the pavement. so much fun and such a nice flying aircraft...and then realizing how much better of a pilot you should be...
  11. You guys have it all wrong...It's even maroon and white for KSMooniac http://www.controller.com/listingsdetail/aircraft-for-sale/DEHAVILLAND-DHC-2/1961-DEHAVILLAND-DHC-2/1209291.htm
  12. If I wasn't flying this, I'd be flying a Cessna 180/2/5 on amphibs...
  13. Wish I'd seen this topic sooner. I'd wholeheartedly endorse a Cessna 182RG. I've got some time in one. It's an honest 150+ knot airplane with plenty of range and useful load. Gear maintenance will be more than a Mooney. A lot of nice looking planes around $80,000 - $100,000. The useful load is what you want. It's wide and easy to get in and out of. But if I was buying a 4 seat, high wing aircraft, it would be a Cessna 180/2/5 on amphibs.
  14. It's an attitude problem with society that has transferred to our lawyers and our courts. There is no personal responsibility anymore. There's also no acceptance that we live in an imperfect world with imperfect people and pilots and bad stuff happens.
  15. Just because it goes up doesn't mean there's any real value added. QE_Infinity has a tendency to cause inflated figures. I guess they're taking the strategy of manufacturing a "recovery" by printing money.
  16. There is nothing wrong with running 2700 RPM. If for some reason your governor is allowing higher RPM than 2700, that's a problem. Wide open throttle, 2700 RPM. Best thing for your engine and flying enjoyment. If you want to back the noise off a bit, maybe try 2600-2650 RPM.
  17. You gotta be kidding me.
  18. A 2nd recommendation for Hawk. Depending on your paint scheme, will likely run $8500 to $9000 plus tax.
  19. I really had a fun time in Nashville several weekends ago. Also like your San Antonio idea. I'm not a fan of New Orleans... You're also not too terribly far from some warm Florida weather.
  20. Let us know how it goes. My phone # is on my facebook if you need help while you're out here. Any chance you can make it through LAL on the way back with gas at $5.04 Self serve or ZPH is $4.65? Would love to meet up.
  21. I went through this and unfortunately there's not one available for us. You're probably stuck with a 28V Kelly setup. Mine was $595 from Quality, IIRC.
  22. It ain't fun until you've flown from Central TX to eastern NC in 7 hours...in a Cessna 172! The next day was 13 hours going westbound with turbulence very much on the moderate+ side the whole way. Didn't see 100 knots GS until I hit the Texas border.
  23. Too bad you couldn't see my fellow Baylor Bear, RG3. Fun trip by Mooney though!
  24. West Houston (IWS) has a few Crown Vics. It's way out on the west side near Katy though.
  25. And that picture actually resembles a Mooney...
