  1. After reading this thread, I ran a V ref report on my aircraft. Using that value, shows I am close to $40,000 under insured! I just sent a message to my insurance company to see if I can increase the hull value mid way through the coverage period.
  2. To fix this, I had to drill the pop rivets out of the right console side panel, remove all the screws from the console front and the controls on the front of the console so that I could pull the console forward to get access. I had Advanced (Troutdale, OR) fix mine. A couple of years ago. Same process
  3. I first noticed the ultralight about a half mile out to the west heading for the airport. As he was approaching to land, I believe he was heading for the grass runway 9L, adjacent to the paved runway (where he eventually landed). I then noticed the single engine aircraft approaching for a landing from the opposite direction on 27L.
  4. One of the Comanches in the Caravan is “Gizmo” who has joined the Caravan for several years
  5. I usually walk by the airport on my daily walk. Friday morning saw this
  6. Can you post a photo of the panel before the items were removed. I may need the tachometer
  7. Airspeed indicator appears to be inop
  8. It’s been a few years but last time I flew into Canada I stopped at Abbotsford (CYXX). Called customs on the phone and got a clearance number. No one inspected anything
  9. Flew across the Cascades to Pasco for oldest son’s birthday. 30 knot headwind on the way there but 30 knot tailwind on the way home. Heatwave in western Washington. 86 at the airport when I landed back in Sequim.
  10. We stayed at the Sandman Plano Frisco Hotel, three weeks ago when we drove up from Austin to visit a former exchange student whom we have remained close to for 15 years, (Ghana). It was a pleasant stay. When I went for my morning walk, I passed an interesting little park dedicated to the Cattle drive trails that went through the area. The bronze sculptured cattle are larger than life size. I did not land at the McKinney airport, though that was my plan had we not driven up from Austin .
  11. My M20J has headset jacks on the pilot side of the center console. I’m embarrassed to admit I have never attempted to test/use these jacks in the 18 years I’ve owned 84L. If the primary jacks fail (I assume they’re connected through the audio panel) do you just plug into the emergency jacks? Will the push to talk button still work?
  12. Quart size ziplock works for me
  13. Are they leasehold? Our local condo hangers are on land leased from the airport. Started out a 37 year lease back in the late80s. I think there’s about 16 years left to go before everything reverts to the airport. They began selling them at 21,500, lately they’ve been selling for 60,000, but I assume the price will start going down with the short life left on the lease hold.
  14. I like the way the tail mounted camera makes the wings look curved down.
  15. Returned home today from Bozeman after 5 days touring Yellowstone & Grand Teton National Parks, after a visit with son #2 in Georgetown TX. The Mooney performed flawlessly over 32 flight hours (including the Henderson PPP) with instrument approaches to KGTU and KBZN. We packed for 90 degree weather in Nevada and sub freezing at Yellowstone. Amazing how much luggage a mid body Mooney can hold ( I know I need to wash out the truck bed)
  16. 330 lbs for IO360
  17. Floating ball at 18 K max setting
  18. Flew from Denver to Bozeman today. Had to go up to 16,000 to avoid icing. Highest I’ve ever cruised in the J. With the Mountain High system full open I still had to remember to breathe deeply to maintain above 90% O2 saturation
  19. Thank you. I read through the thread. My plan is to bring the laptop next time I’m away from home when the database expires.
  20. I have FS210 and use Foreflight. What do you have to do to upgrade to 510? ( in addition to using Garmin Pilot)
  21. FBO at KCFO didn’t have the Garmin aviation database manager on its computer but contacted IT who agreed to download it but the guy who knew the password was off today. One of the FBO employees who is a pilot and working on his instrument rating drove me to his flight school and I was able to update it there
  22. Thanks Lance. I should have thought of that, but left Georgetown before zI saw your post. Just landed at KCFO so will stop at the flight school here
  23. I left home 4/12 to attend Henderson PPP. Garmin GTN database effective 4/20 wasn’t yet available. Left Henderson for Northern Arizona to visit some cousins in Showlow and Springerville. Left AZ on 4/18 and flew to Georgetown TX to visit #2 son. I originally planned on bringing the laptop to update the database but decided I could use the FBO computer or my son’s computer. Garmin requires downloading its database manager software. FBO & hotel computers require administrator’s approval, which was not available on site. Son’s computer was Chromebook which is not Garmin compatible. Son’s work laptop was windows 11 which only allows download of Microsoft Store approved apps (which Garmin DB Manager apparently is not). I found some online instructions for going into developer mode in Windows but even then couldn’t download it. Any easy solution from you techies?
  24. 2nd leg: Stop in Showlow to visit a cousin. Flew right over Sedona
