  1. My M20J has headset jacks on the pilot side of the center console. I’m embarrassed to admit I have never attempted to test/use these jacks in the 18 years I’ve owned 84L. If the primary jacks fail (I assume they’re connected through the audio panel) do you just plug into the emergency jacks? Will the push to talk button still work?
  2. Quart size ziplock works for me
  3. Are they leasehold? Our local condo hangers are on land leased from the airport. Started out a 37 year lease back in the late80s. I think there’s about 16 years left to go before everything reverts to the airport. They began selling them at 21,500, lately they’ve been selling for 60,000, but I assume the price will start going down with the short life left on the lease hold.
  4. I like the way the tail mounted camera makes the wings look curved down.
  5. Returned home today from Bozeman after 5 days touring Yellowstone & Grand Teton National Parks, after a visit with son #2 in Georgetown TX. The Mooney performed flawlessly over 32 flight hours (including the Henderson PPP) with instrument approaches to KGTU and KBZN. We packed for 90 degree weather in Nevada and sub freezing at Yellowstone. Amazing how much luggage a mid body Mooney can hold ( I know I need to wash out the truck bed)
  6. 330 lbs for IO360
  7. Floating ball at 18 K max setting
  8. Flew from Denver to Bozeman today. Had to go up to 16,000 to avoid icing. Highest I’ve ever cruised in the J. With the Mountain High system full open I still had to remember to breathe deeply to maintain above 90% O2 saturation
  9. Thank you. I read through the thread. My plan is to bring the laptop next time I’m away from home when the database expires.
  10. I have FS210 and use Foreflight. What do you have to do to upgrade to 510? ( in addition to using Garmin Pilot)
  11. FBO at KCFO didn’t have the Garmin aviation database manager on its computer but contacted IT who agreed to download it but the guy who knew the password was off today. One of the FBO employees who is a pilot and working on his instrument rating drove me to his flight school and I was able to update it there
  12. Thanks Lance. I should have thought of that, but left Georgetown before zI saw your post. Just landed at KCFO so will stop at the flight school here
  13. I left home 4/12 to attend Henderson PPP. Garmin GTN database effective 4/20 wasn’t yet available. Left Henderson for Northern Arizona to visit some cousins in Showlow and Springerville. Left AZ on 4/18 and flew to Georgetown TX to visit #2 son. I originally planned on bringing the laptop to update the database but decided I could use the FBO computer or my son’s computer. Garmin requires downloading its database manager software. FBO & hotel computers require administrator’s approval, which was not available on site. Son’s computer was Chromebook which is not Garmin compatible. Son’s work laptop was windows 11 which only allows download of Microsoft Store approved apps (which Garmin DB Manager apparently is not). I found some online instructions for going into developer mode in Windows but even then couldn’t download it. Any easy solution from you techies?
  14. 2nd leg: Stop in Showlow to visit a cousin. Flew right over Sedona
  15. Flew to Henderson for MAPASF PPP. High winds across the Sierras so I flew down the Central Valley to avoid the mountain wave along V165, the most direct route. Been there, done that before. No luck getting Joshua Approach to let me fly in Restricted airspace so had to go all the way to Palmdale to turn east.
  16. 40 years vs 36? I raised 5 kid from birth to ? That’s a lot of years

  18. This fellow is rumored to be in the process of building and opening an FBO at W28. I don’t know him personally
  19. My last few annuals have been done by Advanced Aircraft in Troutdale OR, a Mooney Service Center
  20. Scott Erickson in Port Townsend (0S9) helped John install our factory rebuilt engine
  21. Welcome. No A&Ps in Sequim. John Rollston used to be on field but now works for Rite Brothers Aviation in Port Angeles. He has done work on our J in the past.
  22. I too canceled Flying. Half the content is an advertisement for the owners new residential fly in development
  23. Same on 97J. Top front rim. Much better location than right over the baggage compartment on older Mooneys
