  1. Floating ball at 18 K max setting
  2. Flew from Denver to Bozeman today. Had to go up to 16,000 to avoid icing. Highest I’ve ever cruised in the J. With the Mountain High system full open I still had to remember to breathe deeply to maintain above 90% O2 saturation
  3. Thank you. I read through the thread. My plan is to bring the laptop next time I’m away from home when the database expires.
  4. I have FS210 and use Foreflight. What do you have to do to upgrade to 510? ( in addition to using Garmin Pilot)
  5. FBO at KCFO didn’t have the Garmin aviation database manager on its computer but contacted IT who agreed to download it but the guy who knew the password was off today. One of the FBO employees who is a pilot and working on his instrument rating drove me to his flight school and I was able to update it there
  6. Thanks Lance. I should have thought of that, but left Georgetown before zI saw your post. Just landed at KCFO so will stop at the flight school here
  7. I left home 4/12 to attend Henderson PPP. Garmin GTN database effective 4/20 wasn’t yet available. Left Henderson for Northern Arizona to visit some cousins in Showlow and Springerville. Left AZ on 4/18 and flew to Georgetown TX to visit #2 son. I originally planned on bringing the laptop to update the database but decided I could use the FBO computer or my son’s computer. Garmin requires downloading its database manager software. FBO & hotel computers require administrator’s approval, which was not available on site. Son’s computer was Chromebook which is not Garmin compatible. Son’s work laptop was windows 11 which only allows download of Microsoft Store approved apps (which Garmin DB Manager apparently is not). I found some online instructions for going into developer mode in Windows but even then couldn’t download it. Any easy solution from you techies?
  8. 2nd leg: Stop in Showlow to visit a cousin. Flew right over Sedona
  9. Flew to Henderson for MAPASF PPP. High winds across the Sierras so I flew down the Central Valley to avoid the mountain wave along V165, the most direct route. Been there, done that before. No luck getting Joshua Approach to let me fly in Restricted airspace so had to go all the way to Palmdale to turn east.
  10. 40 years vs 36? I raised 5 kid from birth to ? That’s a lot of years

  15. Welcome. No A&Ps in Sequim. John Rollston used to be on field but now works for Rite Brothers Aviation in Port Angeles. He has done work on our J in the past.
  16. I too canceled Flying. Half the content is an advertisement for the owners new residential fly in development
  17. Same on 97J. Top front rim. Much better location than right over the baggage compartment on older Mooneys
  18. It’s on my pre-takeoff checklist. I check it every flight (or at least when my wife is flying right seat )
  19. Hat rack roof ceiling on 97J

  21. Thanks for the PayPal tip Anthony.
  22. The Mooney Safety Foundation (providers of the well respected PPPs) was featured in the latest MooneyFlyer online magazine. It was always associated with the MAPA magazine and organization before
