  1. OK, Mike, now that your seats, pedal extentions, cushions, and belts are sorted out...get that '83 J fired up and come to the Mooney luncheon in Punta Gorda tomorrow. The WX should be good and it ain't that hard to find.
  2. Air Force Major here....no gray and lot's of hair. All parts operating well I'm happy to report.
  3. Can a sailor be made to perform like a marine? http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_PhSnkDnqRHk/SvrsKjX-PVI/AAAAAAAAANM/6al7AH5FrzM/s320/veterans-day.jpg'>
  4. Quote: joegoersch Thanks for all the input ! Anyone ever fly down to Texas for an annual ? e.g. Dugosh or Maxwell for an annual ? would I save any money (e.g. assuming I could make a vacation out of it-so don't count operating cost !) Joe
  5. Quote: Parker_Woodruff I'm out in Fort Lauderdale on business and saw ...... a wierd curviture.
  6. We had a great turnout last month in Lakeland. There were 21 people and 15 Mooneys. Our next event will be in Punta Gorda (PGD) this Saturday, November 13. Be sure to park at the FBO and walk over to the restaurant. They will not let you park in front of the restaurant and walk through the gate to the restaurant because of security. Future Events are on the Second Saturday of the Month: November 13, Punta Gorda (PGD) December 11, Flagler (XFL) All events start at 11:30. We really appreciate it if you e-mail DaveanRuth@aol.com by Thursday and let him know if you are going to try to make it. He can then call the restaurant on Friday with a head count. No one is obligated to attend if they told him they are coming and can't make it for mechanical, weather, health or other reasons. Hope to see you soon, Dave, Ruth and Gary The following invitation when out with the lastest Fly-in notice: Some of you may not be aware of the easy to use, modern, two year old Mooney Forum at http://mooneyspace.com. It is easy to use, is passive in that you have to visit it to participate rather than you being flooded with daily emails, and has a most friendly and helpful group of Mooney pilots. Since it's impractical for us to all meet each other and have round table talks at our social lunches, this is a place you can visit with any questions or issues, or just read those of other people. There is even a Florida specific section, and a fair number of Florida residents are there already. If you're looking for a local mechanic, a paint shop, a CFI, advise on a problem or just want to continue some Mooney talk started at one of our luncheons, you would be most welcome to visit http://mooneyspace.com.
  7. Quote: crxcte Turn the fuel valve to off to kill. I've been doing it for over a year to keep it from flooding and it has ran been running its best since.
  8. Insulated for water, drinks, food, and eventually bottled urine ;-) $9.95 and lots of color choices!
  9. Diapers are for our first few years of life, and if maybe our last few years. In between, I'll skip the coffee and bring an empty bottle.
  10. Quote: DaV8or Well, if Craig is done with this site and doesn't want anymore suggestions for this site, he should change the name of this forum to just Bug Reports. My suggestion really shouldn't be confused with criticism. It wasn't intended that way.
  11. Finally!!! Congrats, Mike. Depending on the height of your partners, you should consider elevator shoes when flying. Oh, and as Ken said, 70 kts OVER THE NUMBERS should work better than 75.
  12. All it will take is time and money.... Craig was clear that he threw this site together, and did a wonderful job I might add. He also provides the host server at his cost. There are no "paying" advertisers or sponsors, and we don't pay anything. So, IMHO, and not unlike our government, "good idea" demand resorces to implement. So what's it worth to you ;-)
  13. Great comments by all, and wonderful learning experience, and a safe outcome...not half bad. Moments of terror tend to focus us, and when it's our life on the line, everything is magnified. You could not go out and buy the kind of lesson you had, David. Great job, and thanks for the superb write-up. I think your PIC did quite well also. It's good to be as selective with who you fly with as it is with who works on your plane. Pre-brief every flight, no matter how uncomfortable it seems. Pleasure flying is a dangerous business.
  14. I've got to stop coming here during lunch!
  15. Whatever liability tail Mooney had is now gone, and whomever their investors were now have a complete loss to write-off. A good example of why I don't enjoy playing poker with Texans or lawyers. Anyone who believes that ,in the short run, this is good for current Mooney owners, has better rose colored glasses than I do.
  16. JB at Sebring has a good reputation down here, though I've not done business with them. Very clean and orderly shop.
  17. My point is the heavy J's and K's, with inner gear doors, and the very heavy long body R's and M's can handle grass, BUT why press your luck?
  18. Have you considered swapping your T&B for your AI, rather than pulling your VSI? Do you mind sharing what you"ll get for your old HSI. I would be doing well to get $2K.
  19. I'm ready to do a long term test on A20, but first someone has to buy my second pair of Bose X...less than a year old with about 30 hours on them. According to my avionics shop, the A20 is at least 95% marketing hype.
  20. Quote: richardheitzman I recommend to everyone, first replace your landing gear biscuits, then get the tanks stripped and resealed using the weep no more process. Then go out an practice landing soft. ....and stop landing on grass, and doing that bounce dance the tanks hate.
  21. Congrats to both of you....
  22. ADF is still a useful tool, both for flying...it points to things, and for listening to the radio. You GPS only guys will be sorry you took them out when the government shuts down satellite navigation for "security" reasons Oh, great looking panel, and the light background makes it look bigger, more modern, and much better.
  23. Quote: mooneygirl Do you get a quick erection with the Aspen?
  24. Jim...isn't there an excellent avionics shop in Robins, GA? If I were home, I'd look it up.
  25. We had a good turnout at our last event. Eleven Mooneys brought seventeen people to Sebring. The restaurant had good service, great food and low prices....except for fuel. Come make some new Mooney friends, learn some new things, get your questions answered, and compare lots of planes. Our next Fly-In is next Saturday, October 9, a the Air Harts Runway Cafe at Lakeland (KLAL). The restaurant is located on the second floor over the FBO where Tony's used to be. Future Events are all on the Second Saturday of the Month October 9, Lakeland (LAL) November 13, Punta Gorda (PGD) December 11, Flagler (XFL) All events start at 11:30. We really appreciate it if you can e-mail Dave by next Thursday night and let him know if you are going to try and make it. He can then give the restaurant a head count. No one is obligated to come even after they sign up. Mechanical, weather, health, no kitchen-pass, and lots of other reasons ground the best of us Hope to see you at Lakeland, Dave, Ruth and Gary
