  1. The iPad 2 has been completely redesigned and features a new dual-core A5 chip, which is twice as fast as the A4, while still using the same low power. It also provides up to nine-times faster graphics and has both a rear-and front-facing camera for video as well as the gyroscope already found in the iPhone and iPod touch. Design-wise, the new tablet is 33% thinner, cut down from 13.4mm to 8.8mm. This is thinner than the iPhone 4, which is 9.3mm. It's also lighter at 1.3 pounds, compared to the original 1.5 pounds. Despite the design changes, Jobs said the tablets will have the same 10-hour battery life as the first iPad as well as the same price points, starting at $499 for the 16GB WiFi-only model. Apple will begin shipping the new tablet starting mid March. Some other new features include the ability to hook it up to a TV using HDMI with an optional adapter and compatibility with a new "Smart Cover" accessory that, using magnets, automatically wakes the device when its opened.
  2. Quote: LT4BIRD So I guess a caravan isnt going to happen. Oh well. Maby I can hang with the Beech guys.
  3. Quote: KSMooniac One of the gems I learned there is that the "let the turbo cool down for a few minutes before shutting down" idea is a total myth.
  4. 6. If you have the factory optional windshield blower, don't count on it doing any good with ice. It won't.
  5. Quote: JimR Thanks again for the information about Pilots Guide.
  6. Quote: Parker_Woodruff Very nice!
  7. Quote: flyboy0681 I guess it would be asking too much for the FAA to modernize the test.
  8. Quote: Mcstealth That's the only reason keeping me from a TBM-850
  9. Quote: N223MM If I were to sell my 94 MSE or sell shares in it I would start the value out $170K.
  10. I've known this agent for over ten years. She is professional, full time, knows her stuff, live and works the Keys, and she's cute, so call her. Good luck! http://www.lisaferringo.com/
  11. Quote: Mcstealth ....I see no reason other than monetary keeping you from going turbo.
  12. Great advise, but trying to keep #1 from influencing #2, when it comes to aviation, is close to impossible IMHO.
  13. I know what you mean, and have pondered that question for 16+ years. From EVERYTHING I've seen, if you aren't very handy with a wrench, and can do some legal work on the engine yourself, you are MUCH better off with a non turbo. The guy in the hanger next to me has had a 231 for almost 20 years, knows the plane like the back of his hand, maintains it very well, and yet it still spends more time with the cowling off than it does in the air. The 231, 252, Encore, and even the Bravo are wonderful machines if someone close is doing the work on them, you can afford it, and/or you need the speed and altitude for business. Keep shopping, prices aren't going up in our lifetime, and exactly the right Mooney will find you!
  14. You can buy several sets of tie down spikes with rope for what our EAA friends will "rent" them to you for. I pay a few bucks to park on the FBO hard surface, but again our EAA friends have make the transportation from there to the show a PIA in the last two or three years.
  15. Good points, Richard. What are you flying these days? Have they ever started building fly-in condo's at the Boerne airport?? My '94 J is in as good shape as Doc Hemann's, with a little better avionics, but not as nice interior, and I sure wouldn't sell it for the price he's asking. To the OP, a 252 (which wasn't available when I purchased my plane, new) is the way to go IMO.
  16. Hopefully older Garmins can be upgraded at reasonable cost.
  17. Quote: LFOD I think that is way overpriced. Unless the GWI is important to you (don't know if that aircraft has it) what is the operational difference between a 1994 and 1984 that you could purchase for 50K less? You are into 252 territory at that price and you get the added capability of turbo and possible FIKI retrofit.
  18. Buy Don a drink and ask him which of the two he prefers. I think he said something about not wanting condoms in his wings ;-)

  20. All you need is the wing site gauge. See Bob, the Parts Manager at Premier. He's a good guy and will treat you right IF you say hi from me. I think the gauge is under $100 and you can DIY or have Phil do it. Good luck.
  21. Actually, I like to think the topic is just evolving :-)
  22. Yes, my numbers are about 2,500 RPM and WOT.
  23. The actual cost/quote can get quite complex depending on what extras you want, the materials you specify and how much you're having done. Aero Comfort is an excellent pick, IMO. When I get my interior done I'm going to them for a lot of reasons, but especially because that's all they do, unlike a mechanic or paint shop that justs farms it out, and takes a royalty.
  24. 162 kts.....8,500 ft, 100 ROP, 10.3 GPH or, 155kts on 9.2 GPH about 20 LOP. Trading up is your best option, IMHO.
  25. The amazingly strong Mooney cockpit cage saves yet another unlucky pilot. Don't try this trick in a clorox bottle plane.
