  1. Welcome aboard, Steve. Very nice looking bird.
  2. Quote: Skywarrior Hmmm... that's a good question. I'm a total novice at Mooneys. Anyone? Chuck M.
  3. Talk about a loaded question with lots of opinions.....but yes, stay away from polarized lenses, and amber tint is excellent for flying. Go nuts on this site: http://www.opticsplanet.net/serengeti-sunglasses.html?gclid=CN_K6PKeraMCFSUXswodP2Z06A
  4. Quote: flhelo Sounds like a good time. I will try to be there if weather plays nice. 10 minutes from ZPH.
  5. The tank of the air, drinks a lot of fuel, is about as fast as a J maybe a couple of knots faster, parts are a concern, I think there are less than 100 of them flying, they are very stout (like a tank), payload is so-so, controls are heavy, they sure can't glide like a Mooney, and they are unique. It is an interesting plane.
  6. For a great "smaller" twin, if money is no object, you can't go wrong with a P Baron, Baron.
  7. Our last event had great attendance, 10 Mooneys brought 23 people to St. Augustine. The visiting, food, and service were all good. So come on out and join the fun... This Saturday, August 14, we will meet at Richard's Cafe and Deli at Winter Haven (GIF) at 11:30 Future Events are all on the Second Saturday of the Month August 14, Winter Haven (GIF) September 11, Sebring (SEF) October 9, Lakeland (LAL) November 13, Punta Gorda (PGD) December 11, Flagler (XFL) All events start at 11:30. David appreciates it if you can e-mail him DaveanRuth@aol.com by Thursday night of the week of the event and let him know if you are going to try to make it, so he can call the restaurant on Friday with a head count. Of course you're not obligated to come if you can't make it for mechanical, weather, health or other reasons. Hope to see you soon, Dave, Ruth, and Gary
  8. Quote: Mitch ...something substantial. Any comments?
  9. Nice Baron.....excellent choice!
  10. Quote: steelerp I "thought" my mind was made up to use Tejas next year (Aspen this year, Garmin last year) but after seeing this...and the price (8ish you say), I will reconsider. Thanks for sharing. Rick
  11. Given that choice, rather than buy a basket case, what I would do is get some help and build a new RV-10, exactly the way I wanted it.
  12. I think you're on to something, Scott. I'll talk to you off line when I get a bit of time.
  13. Quote: DaV8or ....why not liberate a radio?!
  14. Welcome home, Phillip! Now the real fun begins!
  15. A bit late on the congrats, Parker.....stunning job!

  18. When on a long IFR cross country, does either Skycharts, or ForeFlight scroll the enroute chart with your current location?
  19. Wonderful choice Todd, and best of luck with her
  20. $3.99 at KOBE in central Florida this AM.....only 98 degrees. Hanger, if you can get one, at KHWO is only $530 a month.
  21. Quote: Jeff_S ...And the recession is bad but not THAT bad for all but the 3.5% of folks who can't find a job (remember, the NATURAL rate of unemployment is about 6% so only the balance of those are really looking).
  22. What is overall attendance like, Jolie? I assume it's down significantly.
  23. http://motorsports.fanhouse.com/2010/07/27/jack-roush-survives-another-plane-crash/ Rumor is that Roush has dinged a few planes, reported and not. You gotta know when to hold'em and know when to fold'em. Waste of a beautiful Beechcraft jet and crashes at OSH are no help to GA. He is using up all this amazing good luck.
  24. Quote: scottfromiowa Really? How much more. Can you define what "a-lot" more is in the current marketplace. Can you show me some stats?
