  1. I don't trust anything or anyone that much!
  2. As can be seen in my photo, the plastic overlay is simply a cosmetic overlay; the actual panel is exposed beneath it. Fortunately, as PPL holders, we can remove / repair / fabricate / install cosmetic covers. S'what I'm working on now, and why I value a tracing of your existing plastic part before you start cutting on it.
  3. I almost wrote, "no, this is not combat damage" when I posted the picture, but thought that might confuse @jmbaute !!
  4. Here's what is behind that black plastic in my 1970 C . . . . Mine broke into three pieces. I'd love a tracing of your plastic piece, or a layout with hole locations. I have access to multiple CAD systems at work. I may be interested in buying your overlay, if we can figure out how to ship it safely. Despite what @Niko182 says, keep the angled layout used by the factory, it fits more instruments into the panel than if you put them in perfectly horizontal lines. He only gets 10 instruments to the left of the radios.
  5. I do this in the winter, after unplugging the engine heat and pulling out of the hangar. Generally two revolutions. During warm weather, I just get in and start the checklists.
  6. After Summit IV, leaving KECP around 1330 headed north, I heard Cairns Control complaining about the number of Mooneys. So I've been alerting them in advance, so the tower is properly staffed and they know what will come their way Friday and Sunday. May need to add Tyndall to the list . . . . If I can find a phone number.
  7. That looks to me like a typical FlightAware glitch. I usually see them in my track . . . .
  8. This is why I've never understood aviation using all white wires for everything! There are dozens of wires behind my panel, and every last one is white . . . . It's not like that at work.
  9. On some models. Right abive is a 1974 C with a doghouse, and my 1970 C also has one . . . .
  10. That shiny spinner sure does look good!!
  11. It looks good, but why did you go with blue?
  12. Cs kept them right tomthe bitter end, 77 or 78 . . . . But Es didn't last that long, I don't think.
  13. Yep, that's where mine broke. My A&P welded it up. It's not pretty, but it's functional. Put in a new cable, too. Twas a pricey annual (failure happened three weeks before it started, giving me time to d!ck around with it and figure out why I had little climb and no speed . . . . ).
  14. Paint?
  15. Can't see your picture . . . Mine broke three years ago, it was fixed up and welded back together. Couldn't understand why my climb rate sucked leaving NC mountains or where my cruise speed went . . . . . It just doesn't run well with carb neat fully open all the time! I'll see if I can find a picture for you.
  16. My thoughts exactly!
  17. Welcome back! Call me if you need a ride, a drink, etc.
  18. Any of these are fine with me, just don't put HAL in charge . . . .
  19. I've never had a lack of volunteers to answer that question for me . . . . Welcome to the South again!
  20. It's not nice looking inland . . . .
  21. @carusoam, are you coming down this year?
  22. I agree! My tail gets sore in four hours!
  23. There are three issues with electric planes: Battery capacity, size and weight. Slowly improving thanks to hybrid cars; electric cars are still non-viable toys. Recharging time. A car that won't go >400 miles without a multi-hour charge is half useless. Ditto for a plane; I made 5 legs last Thursday totaling >1100 nm. Can't (won't!!) wait hours to recharge. Install STC. This will probably eliminate every plane from consideration that isn't built with the motor . . . . Other than that . . . .
  24. Maybe they are repairing the OOS Approach lights on 16? See preceding NOTAM. See you tomorrow. We came down today, have beer on ice.
  25. You have baffles, not a doghouse.
