I'm under no illusion that I have all the answers. I'm very skeptical of the current management team but just because I don't think they have the qualifications doesn't mean that I do, either. But your question is fair so I'll try to answer it. I might want to pursue a clean-sheet design for the "next-generation Mooney," designed from the ground up to appeal to today's buyers that not only remains true to the Mooney brand but is profitable to manufacture. Figure out what we can do to take advantage of the Cirrus's weaknesses or at least match their offerings. With the M20 type certificate I would explore an advanced trainer to compete with Piper and Cessna, since the training market only continues to expand, and looking to avoid the mistakes Mooney made the last time they tried to market the AT. Give it a parachute and simplify the design as much as possible to help buyers lower their cost of operation (bladders to eliminate resealing, re-design the landing gear to not require expensive pucks, etc.). And to do all of this I would hire the absolute best engineers I could find, including recruiting some from Cirrus, Textron, Pipistrel, Diamond, whoever I could convince to leave for the chance to build something new. Would this work? I don't know! But I would hire the smartest and most skilled people I possibly could and listen to them. Turn amazing people loose on your problems and see what they come up with. I would also focus on only a couple projects at first. Even the two I mentioned above might be too unfocused and we might have to pick one or the other until reaching a point where it's appropriate to bite off more to chew on. But without the capital, it's all academic anyway.

You first. I’m willing to donate precisely $0 to a failing, for-profit company for nothing in return. Perhaps Mooney should have hired you since it turns out all of this was actually so easy and obvious. EDIT: That was a little glib, but what I'm saying is: this is an extremely difficult industry to succeed in and it requires a lot of capital to do so. I'm sure the new Mooney team pursued discounts from Garmin and Continental and everyone else, but it's just not that simple. You can't just fire up X-Plane and give the Ovation a Diamond DA40 tail fuselage. All of this costs major money and only fools "donate" to a for-profit company just to keep its doors open.

I think you just answered your own question.

Obviously they were not very persuasive in person, either...

This is what happened to mine, but they don't have the Mooney logo. Mine have the 40th Anniversary logo that would look out of place in any model year besides 1994.

I said negotiate a fair price, not that you should all pay $15 million. Pennies on the dollar, for the reasons you state.

This isn't it exactly, but you might try contacting LASAR, tell them what you're looking for, and see what they say. https://lasar.com/placards-decals/yoke-medallion-control-wheel-placard-150056-n3037?rq=medallion

At this point LASAR and Maxwell (+ other MSCs?) should form a holding company, negotiate a fair price for the type certificate, tooling, inventory, and any other assets worth a darn, and convert whatever is left of Mooney to a parts support/mods business. Liquidate everything else. I wish Mooney could stick around and pump out new planes but it just doesn't look like it's gonna happen.

Eagerly awaiting updates on the all-new composite Ovation and Acclaim that will start manufacturing next year, then the all-new, clean-sheet composite turboprop starting manufacturing in 2023, followed by the all-new VTOL for passenger and cargo use in 2024! Such ambitious timelines, why, they must be close to certification by now!

I can't get over the choice to include that December 2020 strategy document with their listing. It's like they either don't know or haven't decided whether they're still trying to get investors, or if they're trying to sell the assets. If they're still trying for investors, "here's the strategy we utterly failed to execute for the last ten months, isn't it cute how the stuff we said about 2021 hasn't even come close to happening? So whaddya say, wanna give us $15 million now?" is one hell of a pitch.

Hey, neither does Mooney! I guess this explains why they've been dead-silent on here after the initial pie-in-the-sky hype.

I was taught bottom of the block by a 20-year M20J owner CFI.

Nice looking plane. Somebody must have been pretty proud of it to put enclosed wingtips on a '78! I wouldn't be surprised to see similar attention through the rest of the plane. What happened with Kyle and Latitude, didn't he just announce he was brokering there this year? That was fast.

Is it OK to ask about specific N numbers

And what I’m saying is to try educating them instead of just telling them to piss off. If I was clueless about aviation and called to complain about something, the pilot immediately telling me to GFY would only reinforce my belief that he’s in the wrong and I’m in the right. Whereas a polite conversation that tells me (1) the FAA establishes rules we all have to follow, and (2) I was following those rules/was doing what I was doing because of safety/etc., might give me reason to stop and think. -

I know it’s not easy in the moment but let’s all try to think of the bigger picture. If we all act like complete jerks to the public at-large every time they contact us, they’re going to be that much more opposed to GA if not downright motivated to take active roles in opposition to the existence of any airports. Try to be polite and educate if you can! -
Better make that "a" September.

Seeing another Mooney in there has to be a good sign!

If Garmin offered an Aspen Max-like G5 display swap to get the same resolution as the GI-275, I'd do it in a heartbeat. Love the form of the G5, wish the screen was better, hate the form factor of the GI-275, love the screen quality. I also think synthetic vision would look better on the G5 than it does on the GI-275.

Mooney Superstitions or Habit (I'm not sure anymore)

I would happily settle for 175 knot cruise....... -
Related question: how frequently should a slow leak be cleaned off? Can fuel damage the body and/or the paint?

Only a couple small vertical scratches on the screen that I can't even see when the screen is on. Otherwise is in very good shape, just a couple scuffs and chips. It's only used as an aviation iPad and is usually on a charger, so there is a lot of battery left. I've only owned it a year (bought it after buying a Mooney and finding the 11" iPad Pro to be a tight fit on the yoke). Payment via Venmo, PayPal F&F, or Zelle. As-is. Ships in an Apple box with original Apple power adapter and a black Griffin Technologies USB Lightning cable. Asking price: $300 shipped to continental US
