Intermittent squeal on both comms
Baker Avionics replied to 0TreeLemur's topic in Avionics/Panel Discussion
Ok, there we go, possibly. You need to be sure it has the black shoulder washer on one side of the mic jack and then a phenolic washer, the chrome washer and finally the hold down nut. See if this helps: -
Intermittent squeal on both comms
Baker Avionics replied to 0TreeLemur's topic in Avionics/Panel Discussion
What intercom do you have and was there any maintenance done lately? It seems that you have an issue with the mic jacks not being isolated from ground. Now, that MAY not be the issue. So, what intercom and/or Audio Panel do you have as well? -
I am going to invite Gary Reeves to this group and hopefully he will join. He is a good friend and phenomenal source for all of us. What do you think Anthony?

You need to ensure that this connection is there for your audio panel unswitched input. This is on the P1001 connector. It is the hook up that puts the alerts out to the audio panel.

It should be a shielded twisted pair wires as the induced voltage from adjacent wires can and will cause issues similar to what you are experiencing. Any questions, feel free to PM, email, text or call. I will do all I can to help you out.

Skip, there is something pretty big on the horizon that is going to affect the Mooney market here pretty soon as it pertains to AP's. Just be patient. It is supposed to happen within 202 so time is short now. It is pretty big. I let Anthony know about it already but I am in no way going to put it out to the entire public yet. It is going to answer a lot of prayers I believe. -
When are you looking to get this done? I need be, shoot us an email and we can build up an estimate for you so you can compare. Not necessarily looking to steal ANYONE'S business, but it will give you an idea of what other shops can do it for and compare numbers and such. Just a thought. Don't get me wrong, we would love to take care of you, but once you find a shop that you like and get good service from, keep them and it is always better to have a shop that routinely works on your aircraft as they will know the systems, as installed, better than another. I hope this makes sense.

Hello MSers! I have a customer that is looking for a GX60 that works and was wondering if anyone here has one that was removed for an upgrade? Be nice, this gentleman just lost his home in the fires here in Southern Oregon and I am trying to take care of him because of that. Please be nice and let me see what you got!!!

Troubleshooting Aspen Evolution Pro Max audio issues
Baker Avionics replied to BaldEagle's topic in Avionics/Panel Discussion
Can you send or post a pic of the wiring harness that is hooked to the Aspen? There is a reason and that is there should be a ground wire from the connector to the instrument panel and there should be about 12" of over braid on the entire Aspen harness from the connector towards the front of the plane. If that makes sense -
Well thank you for the plug! Lol Usually we will try to run some safety wire through then do a cone shaped tape job on the wiring on the needed wiring and either use baby powder or something like vaseline to help with the sliding. Sometimes we will cut a pre-existing wire, pull it back with another string or safety wire and use that to stagger wires and pull it back through with the OAT wires and then splice the wire we originally used back together. Make sense? Lol. Either way, it isn't fun! I am glad I hire people to that these days! Lol. I hope that helps.

Uhhh....yes....thank you for clarifying that for the galactically challenged because they wouldn't know that "Baker Avionics" sells Avionics equipment. Lol -

Skip, thank you for the kind words! I agree totally with you post. I will say that there are 3 sides, their side, their side and then the truth. Either way, I am sorry folks have to do things like this and spread untruths about others. Like you, I feel that Chief has made it for 30+ years if ups and downs and that says LOADS! That is a great business model and they didn't get there by messing around. They have done by hard work. Sometimes we win some and sometimes we lose some and we need to take our lumos accordingly. I, personally, have nothing against any other company or their employees. I am sorry if this causes confusion. -

I truly hate to ask, but are you sure it is electric? Let me do some thinking. -

You need then to look at the ignition switch or the pick off where it gets the signal from. I, personally would call Dan Reisland at Lasar. He is tell you exactly what to do. -

Tach needle is most likely the cable needs serviced. You can pull it out. cleaned the cable and the sheathing, then put some moly grease and move on. -
I cannot help but to somewhat agree with you on this, however, there is a reason why they do not want to get into that market, I am sure. I mean, there is a reason why their units are stand alone and primary units. There is really no need for them to reinvent the wheel on their niche. There is a reason why most of the other manufacturers use their products and technology for certifying their systems as well. For example, Dynon uses the FT-60/90 for their Skyview HDX as does Garmin in their G500TXi and other EIS units as well. I mean, there is a reason why they use EI versus other manufacturers products because they know what they are doing and will do all they can to be the best at what they do. JPI is a good product, for sure, but EI is head and shoulders above all of them, in my opinion. They make sense, the support is always phenomenal and the quality is second to none. Once you allow different hands to get into the pie, it gets muddied and then it creates issues. Some folks can do it, some can't and will just make a total mess of things. There is a reason why they do not want anyone to field configure their units and I do not lame them. We all have guidelines to follow to include the standards in the pOH of engine limitations, why would you want to change them?
-
Richard, I totally agree! The thing is this, most people want to spend their money on the pretty and fancy avionics systems and then say "I will wait on the engine monitor until next time". We always suggest to do the engine monitor first and do it right! It doesn't matter how pretty your panel is if you cannot fly it. The engine monitor is the BEST upgrade in the cockpit anyone can do, in my opinion. Spend the extra money there. There is virtually zero upgrade for a quality and complete engine monitor that has been installed correctly and it will save you more money than anything else you can install. You will get better performance, fuel economy and will save your engine most of the time. BTW, Ryan is bringing the Aspen here to get installed. He is quite excited!!!
