  1. I see your posting skills are much superior to my own.
  2. they go along with your socket set https://www.google.com/search?q=crows+feet+wrenches&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwi-9vmy7ZHLAhWC0iYKHTHABNgQ_AUICCgC&biw=1425&bih=875 It would not allow me to attach the picture so here is a link.
  3. I don't use my EFB to file but I do use the 1-800 wx brief web site (https://www.1800wxbrief.com/Website/#!/) It works great and you still get the full wx briefing, just online. I agree with not using an EFB as primary navigation, but they will get you out of a jam. I love if for electronic charts and approach plates. I have used both foreflight and jeppesen apps.
  4. The PT-6 engine has that same restriction, but it will burn 100LL.
  5. Yeah, I almost didn't post it for just that reason.
  6. Yep hitting lead is poor form, but the thing that a good wingman needs to know is to stay off the radios except to say "Lead your on fire" and "I'll take the fat one"
  7. Since it has been mentioned in passing in this post, if anyone is interested in helping out pets, Pilots-N-Paws is a place to start. It is for charity so no compensation or need for a commercial license. My family and I have done a couple of these. It gives me a reason to fly, and my wife never complains about the fuel bill associated with the flights so really it's a win-win situation.
  8. I could, but I have to be careful not to quote the military regulations. Most of them mirror FAA, but not all. I just looked up the circling changes to confirm I was not passing false information, and I was wrong it appears that the changes actually affect all categories (A-E) and vary based on the MSL MDA.
  9. landed in scree in mountaneous terrain, skidded backwards 1/4-mile.....At night that had to be one scary ride!
  10. Additionally, I might be cheating because I regularly fly this approach for currency, so I'll leave the rest of the questions for someone else to answer.
  11. Effective July 16, 1998, pilots may substitute IFR-certified GPS receivers for DME and ADF avionics for all operations except NDB approaches without a GPS overlay. GPS can be used in lieu of DME and ADF on all localizer-type approaches as well as VOR/DME approaches, including when charted NDB or DME transmitters are temporarily out of service. It also clarifies that IFR GPS satisfies the requirement for DME at and above Flight Level 240 specified in FAR 91.205(e). This approval represents a major step toward removing the need to retain DME or ADF in our cockpits for any reason. Note: Air carrier operators should consult their operations specifications and their principal operations inspector for approval. Limitations There are still three instances in which DME or ADF are still required. NDB approaches that do not have an associated GPS overlay approach must still be flown using an ADF. A non-GPS approach procedure must exist at the alternate airport when one is required to be filed by regulation. If the non-GPS approaches on which the pilot must rely require DME or ADF, the aircraft must be equipped with DME or ADF avionics as appropriate. GPS substitution for DME/ADF is not permitted in this case. DME transmitters associated with a localizer may not be retrievable from your GPS until the manufacturer incorporates them in the database. Pilots are not authorized to manually enter coordinates.
  12. This approach is using the new circling approach minima based on a larger circling radii. I think the changes really only effect cat C and D.
  13. For the rest of us, what is the answer?
  14. I was excited about $3.35 at my home field until you posted this. AirNav has KLEE at $2.94 today!
  15. Seems to be a problem with your alphabet! You left out the two original Long body Mooneys, the G and F. Pretty sure they fall in between the E and J.
  16. So, after a quick read, the GTX345 seems to combine the GTX330ES/GDL88/Flight Stream into one unit for 5 AMU.
  17. So is that brand C bashful sitting next to a plane that can run circles around it, or did it get hijacked (flaps full down)?
  18. Nice, if everyone would be smart about it, we could have kept the FAA out of it, but unfortunately that has not been the case.
  19. The video from the drone is a neat view. And while it appears that the drone was well clear of the runway and at a non-busy airfield, be careful because the FAA has restricted drones within 5 nm of airports without prior permission from the airfield (airfield manager) and control tower (at towered fields). Unfortunately, it's because there are too many folks out there with drones and no common sense.
  20. I figured it was something like that.....Enjoy the new to you Mooney!
  21. Congratulations....In my limited experience though, isn't the PPI supposed to be before the purchase?
  22. jct4, Welcome to MS, you will learn a lot hanging out here. I can't help you out because I am stuck in NW Florida.
  23. 9 years between oil tests?
  24. I have been intercepted by the Dutch Air Force, it's interesting to say the least.
