Really? A commercial air flight as a passenger is NOT something to be enjoyed, it is something to be endured.TSA, tight seats, crying babies, kicking your back seat, yacking at 100db with your seat-mate about something that everyone in a three row radius cares zero about, but must listen to...come on man. GA is about getting there. Commercial is about what you do AFTER you get there. The romance with commercial air transport is as glamorous as riding a Greyhound...but shorter in duration of pain.

Let me try and help you understand: The very definition of "cool" is no longer what it used to be. The progressives have attacked "ALL" that was cool to create their utopian vision of cool. Individual freedom of flight in "dirty" old "rich-man" flying machines have been and continue to be under attack from the left. Children today are not encouraged to entertain themselves with play. They are not told to go out and explore their world independently. They are not told to think for themselves. Not encouraged to make friends. Aviation is the ultimate form of individualism. Freedom and General Aviation go hand in hand. No, children are hearded from one organized/supervised structured event to another. Their time is managed. Their "freedom" is going online and living a world that is cyber where they can be "cool" they can be anonymous. They can be expressive without fear of recrimination. They can fly, kill, be killed explore without fear of reality. They can re-create themselves and be whatever they wish to be... Intoxicating. Why go and wait to "ride" in a real small oily gas burning old plane when they can get "actual" stick time themselves...and shoot others down. Fantasy is BETTER than reality and costs very little from a monetary standpoint or a risk of being judged. Most children will choose an animated world of their creation to the "real world" where what clothes they wear, how they look, speak interact is "judged" by their peers and perhaps found lacking. The world is a difficult place. Friendships and passion require energy and fear of failure. Human beings choose the path of least resistance when push comes to shove. THAT is why geeks now rule the world. THEY are now "cool". Airplanes, sports, reality, not so much.

Paul, you had me on board UNTIL you had to throw in the B.S. Lib mantra on sports. You were not a student athlete were you Paul. To not enjoy participating in sports...or aviation is fine with me, but throwing out a blanket statement that "sports are actually the biggest waste of time" is an ignorant comment at least and a hateful uninformed one at best. Competition, whether on the golf course, cross-country, Track, Tennis Court, Volleyball Court, Baseball/Softball Field, Math Competition, Show Choir or gasp Soccer, Football and Hockey develop youth in positive ways that a software-jock hating geek apparently just "don't get". It is NOT about making a living. It is about developing yourself physically and mentally. Improving from coaching and training. Learning how to be a part of something bigger than you. It is about the whole being better than the individual parts or as Patton once said: "Americans play to win all of the time...and you should have seen those trucks on the road to Tunisia. Those drivers were magnificent. All day and all night they rolled over those son-of-a-bitching roads, never stopping, never faltering from their course. They did it, and in one hell of a way they did it. They were part of a team. Without a team effort, without them, the fight would have been lost. All of the links in the chain pulled together and the chain became unbreakable." %^$& your 21st century. This progressive party B.S. don't hunt. There, a contrary opinion to chew on and hate. Everybody knows hockey is not a real sport anyway.

I hate when somebody doesn't do what they say they are going to do and then they leave me with a 1.5 trillion dollar bill and ride off into the sunset.

I used to love the "combat" scenes of Snoopy taking on the Rotte Baron. The sound effects were pretty good of the airplanes. That and the "rise of the Great Pumpkin from the pumpkin patch" (Snoopy scaring the poop out of Linus)

Leather fur-lined bibs were pretty common in WWII as well. Can you imagine how cold that would have been in an open cockpit?! I liked the cameraderie with the downed English Pilot in front of his downed machine. He was smiling and laughing along with the Germans to include Manfred. The fuel cells were right behind them too...A pretty "hazardous occupation" to say the least. About as glamorous as getting out of a trench on the whisle and charging Maxim Heavy Machine Guns while getting nailed with mustard gas. Good times...

Departed from my last 2015 weekend Up North to cottages today. They are three season and based on my having to spend about twenty minutes removing frosted wing ice with credit card and chip out fuel cap ice it was time. Flight home 400ish nautical miles with a work friend and dog was nice at 6500 feet. Smooth air and 145-155 ground speed burning 10.2 at 10LOP. It was Clear-Clear and fun to site-see with someone that doesn't get up much in a small single engine airplane. He said "I would fly to California with you"..I said what do you mean? He said, there is a lot going on and you really take this seriously, I trust you. That felt pretty good... I LOVE my Mooney.

What's with the turbo prop ego's

Here is my response. If an educated human being views that video and cannot process the "fault" as a rational human being would...If that human doubles down and concurs that the random stars aligned to produces an insect sting and resultant swerve at the exact moment...If one cannot view one as diabolically evil and the other as a risk assessed and taken...a deliberate decision vs. a deliberate action that resulted in injury then said person is wired incorrectly...in comparison to "the average person". So at least he has got that going for him. -

Home Run David. You delivered EXACTLY what I wanted aesthetically. If the cooling is there it is a win/win. I want a lower price point with updated appearance retaining my side/panel access. Thank you. Highly psyched for pricing and availability.... Will continue in "holding pattern"... Hope testing and certification are as uneventful as possible. -
Non-issue if you are not WAY over weight. You are at altitude. Unhook your shoulder harness, reach down to floor and with thumb and trigger finger turn clockwise or counter clockwise (depending on what tank is flowing) and rotate. Don't stop in the middle because that is the OFF position. I do NOT have to move the seat back, but you DO need to release the shoulder harness on a fixed belt. The waist belt remains fastened through the process. This is literally less than a ten second process and there is no need to actually see the valve.

What's with the turbo prop ego's

Understand. My reply was to the auto example and the "state of the American culture". If more lived the Golden Rule we would be in a better place. Here is an example: Just viewed a video of two motorcycles out riding. They were wearing helmets. Came upon a couple of slow moving vehicles. It was double yellow. Could clearly see ahead. They should have waited, but chose to pass the two vehicles. The front slow mover, an older gentleman in a Cadillac swerved left of center as bike was overtaking and the bike went down. The rider was road rashed and passenger went to ICU. The incident was videoed by the rear rider. When he approached the driver he said "I don't care, they shouldn't pass on a double yellow"...Wow, Just wow. Woman might lose her arm. Really? You chose to drive below speed limit, FINE. You feel it is acceptable to swerve into a motorcycle because they chose to overtake you in a double yellow causing serious, perhaps debilitating injury and you say "I don't care" There is no age limit, sex limit, social status limit to being "That Guy/Gal". -
I fail to understand...even for CB's why you would not get these from Brittain in Tulsa. They are not expensive. Why not support the OEM instead of your local hardware store on these parts?

Baggage door hinge spec?
MyNameIsNobody replied to Immelman's topic in Vintage Mooneys (pre-J models)
Yup, understand this is not a slap it on deal. My A&P is good at this type of work and he is reasonable on price. I like to work in something like this when not much is going on the annual beyond standard inspect and lube...Maybe I can get him to install the co-pilot knee vent I have wanted for a decade... -

I respectfully disagree sir. The problem with "the state of the American culture" as it relates to operation of motorized vehicles is: People do not follow the rules of the road. The scenario described would definitely rate a shake of the head from me as well as my cathartic release of expletives from my pie-hole describing what I think of his actions. I don't give a rats ass WHY he/she did what they did...I don't care if the had to take a dump, were late for a meeting etc. Poor driving and poor airmanship are what they are. I call a spade a spade. Often the righteous indignation comes from the perp not the individual who was shat upon. It is a self-centered me first, me now world. --I enjoyed holding the door for several senior citizens as I was leaving a restaurant this morning. I didn't see another young woman coming behind me and closed the door. I apologized and as our cars were side by side I waited for her to reverse/exit first. One can be courteous or one can be an a-hole. I go out of my way to try to NOT be "that guy or gal". The world has plenty of them already... -

Smoking an occasional quality cigar is NOT crazy. It is called enjoing life. Absolutes are for vanilla-lifers. I see the world as a myriad of colors to be enjoyed. Had you said Heroin/Meth/crack I would buy that and agree smoking cigarettes-inhaling death into your lungs is ill-advised...but at least it is legal and heavily taxed. Now, for my flights today. Return flight from northern Wisconsin with a leg in SW Wisconsin to drop off my four legged hunting partner with my son. Really impressed with climb on this cool fall day. 1,000 feet per minute in a cruise climb all the way up to 6500 feet. NICE. Ground speed was only decent for first leg as there was a quartering head-wind. 130-140 knots at 10LOP=10GPH Fuel Flow. 40 minute second hop at 4500 was uneventful and got me back for nail-biter Packer game. Rivers came to play throwing personal and team best 500+ yards against Pack D in a losing effort. He played well. 6-0 going into bye. I LIKE IT. I LOVE my MOONEY Dog had some sensational points on Grouse and Woodcock. The twig of death (.28 gauge AYA #2) was in fine form. Of course as usual 'ol Ruff won more of the battles than he lost...Weather was in the 40's and 50's which is spectacular for this late in the year. A breakfast at Little Bo looking out at Little Star Lake (same lake and restaurant/hotel of Dillinger's shootout) was a nice treat before a quick hunt before departure. Dew/frost on the ground with a crystal clear blue sky made for some stunning views in the woods...even with most leaves (except Maples) having succombed to Old Man Fall's winds. Did I say I love my Mooney? I do.

What, may I ask, does a GU have to do with a pre-mature stall? What is damaged and repaired in a GU? Wing damage? Tail Damage? This kind of post just makes me shake my head. Why would the plane not "fly straight"? What impact would the GU have on "cruise numbers"...?

So what was the Spruce # you ordered? Come on man give me the correct Spruce part #. The hinge search did NOT give a good number for MS20257-4. I appreciate your detective work. Thanks for the number in advance. -
