  1. Think of Clarence as someone in the Charles Dicken's Classic BEFORE he had his visits JUST KIDDING....:) Bah Humbug!
  2. Pretty fantastic to see NOTHING but positives regarding experiences with shops providing Mooney Service. Gives me a warm Holiday feeling to read the kind words about those that maintain our birds.
  3. Duly noted. I will scrub extra hard next shower. I am trying to help others learn so that they can make better decisions before something like this happens. You stated that you were "ripped off". I stated that I believe a lack of communication BEFORE service and taking charge...stating clearly what you want, prior to a potentially expensive service can make the difference. Knowledge IS power. Congratulations on "Owning it". I am glad you learn from your mistakes. My hope is that others may also do the same. If you just needed a hug and for everyone to agree and I did not so I have a "chip"...I will own that. Good day sir.
  4. Good thing you told me which were the new one's. I was having a hard time telling from the photo
  5. That is why there are two...
  6. It was unsolicited and "Free" of charge. Didn't ask for advise in the title. You provided a past tense statement as to what happened. Kind of hard to provide advise after the "It" already hit the fan. Compromise Shrompromise. You got rolled. My advise is to others. Don't get rolled like you out of ignorance? Lack of communication? A trusting nature? A lack of interest? More money than cents-sense?I I repeat: "As long as there are customers like you...and there always will be customers like you...There will be mechanics like him. Either take it silently "like a man"...Ask for HELP early and admit that YOU F'd up and chose poorly on a shop and didn't get information clarified up front...Or write up and after taking report discussing specifically where YOU failed and what you have learned to prevent it from happening to others. Look in the mirror. See that guy? You got rolled BECAUSE OF HIM. Live and learn. Learn and live. I got rolled on my purchase of a plane. IT happened to me too by being that guy. I blame no one but myself.... But alas, I DID NOT HAVE MOONEYSPACE. You DID.
  7. EASTERN IOWA- Monticello Aviation. Brian O. Knows Mooney's. I have had positive experience with annual and extensive "Other". Brian has always met or exceeded expectations with quality and price.
  8. Just Wow. The poster said he was "ripped off", but gave VERY LITTLE information as to "how he was ripped off". Four months to repair a fuel leak...AND the paint was damaged and NOT repaired by those that damaged it? REALLY. The annual identified "Nothing out of the ordinary" beyond "fixing a bunch of stuff that was NOT properly done previously"... No providing of a PDF with an invoice with line by line. Why not? Easy to sanitize the N number owner and shop...why you would NOT want to "out" someone you believe "ripped you off"...your words not mine is hard to fathom. Every once and a while an owner comes on here stating above...sometimes we then get the "other side". This is clear as mud, but if you are taking your plane to someone you DO NOT KNOW and have little working knowledge on what is involved, WHY would you not get: 1. What is your labor and parts for an annual less squeaks price? 2. Get this in writing. 3. Put in writing that ANY squaks WILL be discussed with labor and parts approximate price BEFORE work is completed. 4. Duration of annual will be IN WRITING. You have stated plane will be completed (regular annual) in ____(insert time). I will bring my plane______. I will pick up my plane_________. I understand that once you have a relationship a phone call and labor are KNOWN factors. I understand that "IT" happens when inspections are completed, BUT a 4 month $9k annual leaves a bunch of unknowns. I personally do NOT feel "sorry for you". Hopefully you learned from this experience. If you SHARE your lessons learned you might save someone else "the pain". THAT would be awesome. Otherwise I personally think that there are people that take advantage of "suckers"...because people make assumptions. Caveot Emptor...
  9. Actually less is...Less...But I digress.
  10. 310HP...More. Less would need a sucker punch and an ear bite.
  11. Less is More if you own and fly Less. More is just...MORE. Less keeps telling themselves that Less is more. Less is really less than more...but more less out there than more...MORE, so Less is More to less. That is O.K. With me, but stop ripping on MORE...less I think you really want...MORE. I will just keep flying MORE and be happy.
  12. Thank you Captain...or is it major now, literal. My tongue was stuck hard in my cheek when I wrote that...More is NOT always MORE...In this case it is simply "more of less". Less Climb, Less cruise speed than an E. Not much less, but LESS. If Mooney started with a C and produced "Less" longer than "More"...You end up with More of less.
  13. Just kidding...:)
  14. If you are going to go Uber Cayman...GO GT4 Yummy
  15. Uh Oh, after the fashion comes the 'tude. Watch out, the tats are next.
  16. Shoulder harnesses, strobes, lights, maintenance, flying on a regular basis, risk avoidance are, to me, examples of cost effective risk mitigation. A ballistic chute, for me, not so much.
  17. I don't "keep it in mind", (although I know the facts)...otherwise "I wouldn't fly airplanes or leave the house"
  18. 1)I live in the Midwest. Lots of bean and corn fields. I mean LOTS. 2)I do not fly IFR. 3)I do NOT fly at night. I like the idea of flying a glider vs. riding a chute. I maintain my plane. I watch the weather. To say I have zero interest in a BCS would not be true. To say I have zero interest in retrofitting a system into my current airframe would be accurate. The price point will be interesting. I will take a Sabre Cowl, Garmin 630 and ADSB as well as paint over a chute. Everybody have fun with the useful load/cost (both buy-in and re-pack. No thank you.
  19. Great caliber and price.
  20. You are indicating just over 125 knots....sooooo, NO. I am not offended. Looks about right Since you C guys are into quoting Kromer, why not put in the quote when he is doing climb and cruise in the various models specifically comparing the C & E. What does the test pilot say? What plane would he rather fly? More C's out there than E's. I am certain it is because they were/are the better plane given the choice between both.
