  1. What does the 21- mean in the serial number? This is part of the serial number? True. From 1971 until end of E run in 1975 Mooney used "21" prefix at beginning of serial number. Did not know that. Learning from this thread.

  3. You just made a lot of people happy. This is my electric cut-out with an approval for panel mount switch. Has the added requirement of an annunciator light, which is no big deal. Did NOT know of this. I know of many who just installed a t-dump without going through the paperwork process as described. LOVE IT. Seriously people GET THIS for your PC. It iw superior to the pushbutton hold. The price was not significant for the solenoid and install was straight forward. I will retract my previous post.
  4. My next door neighbor was a dentist growing up. His wife was an instrument-rated 182 pilot-owner. I flew to their cottage in Hayward, Wisconsin (grass strip on property) as well as to Jean's mom's lake cottage in Chetek, Wi. Used to ski behind a 30HP boat . My friend (Jean's son) John used to curl up and sleep in back. I had my headset on and was all over "it". Jean and that 182 gave me the flying "bug". Sadly she fought dementia and passed several years ago. Near the end I would receive 5-10 X-Mas cards from her... Wasp gear Cessna's are not my thing, but you all enjoy. The fixed gear bird loved that grass and could haul well. Hers had turbo, but we never climbed into O2 altitudes.
  5. Hank, There are two threads discussing wing levelers. This thread was dead (It started in 2014) and was re-started. The re-starter clearly stated that he had a wing dropping EVEN WITH THE CUT-OFF DEFEATED. I told him to call Brittain and get some direction. I maintained that it should be defeated entirely with an air-dump...Why is the wing still dropping? That's it...and of course giving you %$#& for getting the Accu-Trak and Accu-Flite turned around on which is which. That has become a hobby...
  6. Horizontal and vertical stripes x2... Neato. Going to take awhile to get that burn-in out of the cerebral hemospheres. Thanks for that. Way better than hanging around in the hospital today while my wife got her first colonoscopy... I had some good poop humour going today, but NOTHING compared to that photo. Masterful.
  7. How many replies does one need regarding "How well the P.C. works" and whether the Wing Leveler holds a course? Good grief. The question in and of itself is basic beyond belief. Yes, If it is serviced and functioning it holds wings level. NO, of course it doesn't hold a heading. There is stuff like wind that will always be pushing you off course regardless of whether your wings are level. It needs the pilot or the introduction of a heading bug GPS track to "follow a heading/hold a course". The end. Now, back to the solonoid/upgrade to the traditional wing-leveler push button disconnect. The whole PC can be defeated with NOT a heavy amount of force, unless the plane is out of trim...There is no necessity to defeat the PC as the forces can be overcome. I still don't understand how the PC can roll if the button is pushed or pulled/defeated. If air is being dumped it CAN NOT WORK, RIGHT?...Right.
  8. There IS an approved STC for a defeat switch. It requires updated yoke install and electric solonoid (available from Brittain). The switch is on the front lett yoke handle of the pilot yoke. You flip the switch and it electrically closes the solonoid and defeats the PC. Works awesome. It cost about $.1AMU's. CHEAP and works great. Legal, handy and eliminates holding the button, removing the button, installing a camera film holder, illegally drilling the yoke and installing an unapproved "holder" or illegally installing a dump valve...
  9. 50% chance...and EVERY time you guess wrong...:) Don't play roulette. Accu-Flite Heading Bug. AccuTrak-GPS
  10. Weird that the disconnect doesn't work. I get the roll, but if you are releasing air/defeating the system...why would it still have the roll taking place? Brittain has the replacement tubing. Give them a call and discuss what it is doing. They are very knowledgeable and should be able to direct you to the area that is causing the issue.
  11. I like the now you see it...now you don't compass. I have one of those too.
  12. GDL-39 plays on 696-wired. Gets power there too. Blue-tooth from GDL-39 to i-pad. Two free for none.
  13. Panel mount 696...also bought used playing the weather too. Two...two...two free for none.
  14. Bought used. Ya, I plan on keeping my plane more than six years. 14 years and counting good buddy. Already paid for and then some... Options are good. Paid for and soldiering on subscription free...Priceless.
  15. Link was a good read. Thank you. Carbon-X since day one. Diluted. Works on a belly. Still work, not magic. Makes you feel like you did something (exercise) when done. A great post Turkey-Day workout. Clean your belly and lose your belly. Fat and oil... Nice.
  16. I was all excited, (being a true CB), when I read the title to the thread. Imagine my chagrin when it was about XM. That's Xtra Money) spent to those unfamilar. Any Company that has your credit card and charges you every month should be avoided like the plague. (THAT is CB-101) Money well spent is getting "FREE" Weather and installing a line in for your music player. You get YOUR music all the time that way with ability to "skip" a song when you want to. A GDL-39 IS free weather as it has value and can be paid for in a short amount of time. Bonus is that you can take advantage of Pilot on your I-Pad and get charting and weather at airports with a couple of pushes on the i-pad screen. I spit on any and all monthy bills...except my enclosed hanger that is $88 bucks a month. A bargain for this CB. You all enjoy your "value" on XM... NOPE.
  17. This is all B.S. Get the gear up. The plane will fly better with gear up. Climb better, stall better. If you lose an engine gear is an option. Get the friggin' gear up already...
  18. I hope when the time comes I'm not a selfish old rhymes with duck.
  19. The "average curve" people say "sorry about that"...at least you are a product of genetics, not pie hole over participation.
  20. Space flight for masses is coming. WOW! Check out flight aware video from 11/24 posted flight and landing with rocket main thrust re-start. What an amazing engineering feat. Congrats!
  21. My dad would say "all your taste is in your mouth", but like all art. if you like it. then it is good. I am not a fan of genuine simulated authentic replicas of wood...
  22. So is McStealth getting spanked. or is someone else doing the spanking...:)
  23. ZEVision. Superior in Lums and $ to Boom-Beam.
  24. Glad they did shut it down. $100 million is not a small sum.
