Is that Earth?...Or Heaven.

Fun trip to bird hunt in northern Wisconsin this weekend. Friday had a lot of wind and decided to land on grass (22) strip as was 16 gusting to 22. They have a well maintained grass strip and landing/roll-out was uneventful. I rolled out to the paved strip, so back taxi to ramp was easy vs. grass with bumps and higher RPM. Not fun to try and put a cabin cover on when that windy... They have a "borrow a bike" rack in front of airport and only a short ride back to the cottages. About 3:30...If I rush back to get dog with SUV I should be able to hunt a couple hours...Go to garage turn key...click. UGHHH. Low battery. Connect battery and change into hunting cloths. Another turn of key "bingo". Out to airport get my 1 year old and now "seasoned...One weekend hunting Pointer Pup Tuck" (after Stanford Tuck of WWII B.O.B Spitfire pilot fame) and guns/food in plane. Leave SUV running. Right out to bird habitat and gook three woodcock over stylish points. I do believe he is "getting it". Bell to left and RRRRRWWWWRR a pair of grouse go up. Spun one down with a quick shot. Should have taken the back barrel...Damn. Winged. We got us a runner. Come on Tuck find the bird. 100 yards later his buddy flushes out of a tree. Sneaky. Tuck gone on point and the winged bird takes off with Tuck in pursuit. Bird lost. Today's return flight was a patchy layer at 4000 and just Clear above. Smooth. Climbed up to 8500 and was seeing 150 knots burning 10.2. Nice. Two hour flight vs. a 7 hour one way drive last week. I LOVE GA. I LOVE my POINTER and I LOVE crystal blue smooth skies....and I love my Mooney

Come on Jim. You are talking about an "Act of God". An accident is an unplanned/unexpected event that may or may not involve personal injury or property damage. I understand what you are saying...People who live in the 100 or 500 year flood plane have a 1 in 100 or 1 in 500 chance of a catastrophic flood. You can mitigate the damage by building flood walls or CHOOSING to not reside in the flood plain or "in tornado alley"...by NOT parking under the tree. It is STILL an accident, I.E. the event is not "planned for". If I am trimming an apple this moring and the blade on the tool breaks and the momentum/force causes my hand to be cut. Was that an accident? I was not planning on cutting my hand or expecting the blade to break. The odds of a tree limb falling on a car, the handle breaking an engine on an airplane failing can be reduced by proper/vigilant maintenance. By buying quality. By planning ahead....BUT the unplanned event can occur and IS an accident. They are not deliberate acts. The teenagers yesterday pointing a gun at another and "the gun goes off"...A lot of "things" could have prevented the occurrence...a lot of domino's lined up. Remove any one and the event does not occur...BUT the gun went off and a girl is dead. An accident NOT a deliberate act. I am quite certain that this pilot was NOT trying to kill himself or others. His actions/inactions lack of planning/weather/plane/weight/performance were ALL factors that lead to the accident. Fault finding vs. fact finding are just another failure that will lead to another unplanned undesirable event...OR another ACCIDENT to occur.

Not in the E. In brand "B"

Sorry to hear of this. It is especially difficult to see a Mooney down and crumpled with the loss of life. Thoughts are with the family and friends of those lost. Fly safe everyone.

Naw, ME109G had a bunch of humps and it was still effective Looks like all in it will be about 10 grand. Jeez. At least the traffic upgrade gets us something we don't already have for safety/capability. Thanks for the help/education everybody. -
I grew some chin fur for the fall. It is soooooowhite. I haven't had anyone call it cute. Damn.

Hey Coleman, NICE beard. You wear it well. Off-setting pilot and co-pilot seats does work. I have had a right seater multiple times of you and your sons dimensions in my E. It will work.

Your more of a Twister than "Love Shack" kinda guy. Whatever works. I think that would be left foot green...right foot red "Look away, nothing to see here"...Nothing graceful about the in and out of Mooney's. Getting out of a Cayman is no picnic either. I just smile. Worth the ride...in both.

This could have ruined my day and then some!

So glad that worked out for you. Man, THAT would of left a pit in my stomach. I look forward to hearing the chain as it unfolds. Somebody really failed you here. -

Thanks Steven. No diversity option just going with +. Can the traffic location replace/go where the existing Transponder antenna is located? I already have two top mounted non-Waas GPS antenna's (for a panel mount 696 and a 300GNC) on plane. Three up there is overkill...Oh well. -

Does the antenna also have the Waas capability or is that a separate antenna? This antenna installs on the belly, right? Thanks again for info. -

Thank you for the education. That is a price that needs to be absorbed a bit. -

Oh wow, I had NO IDEA the antenna was that expensive. So $10800 includes the antenna or is that additional Steven? -
Can those that have gotten quotes or completed install give approximate number for unit and install? Thanks much.

Love the choice Brian. Only plane that I look at, besides Mooney of course, is the Beech F33. I love the look/performance and landing characteristics of the Beech. The sound is not to shabby either...No Rolls Royce Merlin, but a sweet sound in taxi or doing a flyby. Glad you got there. I knew you would. You rehabbed a beautiful E. Did it go to another ND fan? That would of been fitting. PS-Wholly crap on the growth of your son! When we went to Culver's years ago he resembled "average". He grew into a handsome young man. Well done. Enjoy!

Wikipedia says Brittain was LARGEST recipient of Marshall Plan dollars. (Don't get him started though)...Historical revision. It's everywhere.

He's blocked me, so this is for me:. Thank you would be appropriate regarding the War. Just a simple Thank you USA. L M Y P I K. (The Brits had a Brilliant mind, that just happened to be gay, that was responsible for developing "The Bomb". Not THE Bomb, but, I digress...He was critical in the Allied victory for creating a code breaking machine. I wonder if he can crack my code? Doubt it.
