  1. Glad you are going to factory and the resolution to your satisfaction has been realized. I guess Bob is the "go to" guy to PM if you have a concern with Mooney. Good to know. Mooney really stood up and helped out a grounded vintage guy as I recall. I can only hope that I don't have to use Bob and the secret access behind the curtain...
  2. If "those involved" means those that care about "the MOONEY BRAND", I could not agree more. I too am disappointed in Mooney today...
  3. So it is JUST BUSINESS then? O.K. Can I "blame them" for making a business decision? No. Can I question that decision's true impact and think to myself...Self, Mooney is doing pretty poorly if they can't afford a minimum wage tour guide once a week...once a month vs. cancelling pre-scheduled tours to save $15 bucks in labor... Self thinks it was a poor business decision that likely has greater ramifications regarding the "Mooney Brand". Sad. Sorry you and your dad are missing out on the experience that involved flying your Mooney and "Supporting the BRAND". Actions have consequences. Thank you for sharing.
  4. Not showing today. Maybe going to a good new home? Hope so.
  5. Just got an ASO update and really nice '77 J listed at 84k. LoPresti Cowl. Nice updated paint scheme. Split removable seat conversion and interior redone at Mooney with late Plastic. Tan Leather seats, GPS Steer. Wass GPS. Engine Monitor, leather yokes and about 450 on engine. Pretty sweet....
  6. Same stuff, but I paid under $70
  7. Just bought a RAM iPad mini package mount for $68 bucks at Aircraft Spruce. Works great in portrait or landscape. Better than an older RAM mount I had on co pilot yoke. Does not block instruments. Simple elegant and reasonable price.
  8. I grab my Johnson at least 150 times a year, but paint it? That is some kind of kinky. Chrome it? It is still stiff and locks up/performs like it did 50 years ago. Nope it is just fine...
  9. Love the second photo with the feet only sticking out from below that beautiful power plant. I had the photo top hiding the chain and attach so I did a double take. Glad the engine is running well. You deserve it after the first "go-around".
  10. First gear fits my mission. For nearly 800 hours I have travelled to/from cottages and to visit family. 2-3 hour pleasure flights. An extra day or a return if I must drive are a good thing as I like where I am going and who I am going with and to see. No regrets. Just a lot of fun and no stress getting there or back again. Single engine night, over water, or over mountains not my thing. Somebody give me 5 grand and I will check the box. Otherwise rather buy guns and experiences that allow others to "drive". (Apologies to my friend Up North)
  11. Nature is awesome in her beauty and fury. Those photos from air and on ground through USA Today are sobering to say the least...
  12. Baiter...
  13. Late to the party. I completely disagree with this "perfect tip". I would never "dump" flaps as directed by original poster. Bad technique. Can it be done? Yes. Should it? No.
  14. Very pleased to hear how well you did for you and your co-pilot. This is nothing but a hip hip hooray story of outstanding management of a very difficult situation that could have turned out very badly with a sad story. Super job! I hope to perform half as well if ever such a failure of my trusted machine befalls me and those I love. I wish I could give you a hug and wash away any feelings of woulda/coulda/shoulda. You are my hero today....
  15. Good for you Bob. Glad I could get another "real world" view of your panel. I guess I will just open my ram air and get the same speed increase of the PFE for free.
  16. Thought that is what I just did....? I wear being chastised by he who has a thin skin and ability to get someone banned for ribbing with great amusement. Go back to blocking. Better for all... or in Brit speak: Sod off.
  17. You are a nice guy Hank. You called Hyett out for BS, but did so in a kind gentle way. Bottom line: Normally aspirated IO-360 engine at 9000 feet can NOT produce 26 inches of MP. So, there is that. I live in Realsville, not in Fantasia...
  18. Chasing pheasants. Likely just exercise for me and my young pointer...but you never know. Thanks for the invite.
  19. I have no standing here...as I don't have a PFE, BUT I do know how to read and the reason to pay thousands of dollars for something is to actually have that something DO something. I have read actual articles that stated: "The powerflow exhaust has significant performance benefits in big block engines. In a four-banger, Not so much". Now subjectively there are those that think it "looks cool" and sounds better than stock. If you have a lot of money to burn on subjective stuff. Go for it. My interpretation of the thread title was asking for opinions. There is mine on PFE. It is likely worth less than or equal to what you "paid for it".
  20. My three blade prop looks better. There, something to ridicule me about and feel all warm and fuzzy inside with your super duper fast two blades...
  21. Chill Honeybunny...Chill. I wasn't wondering at all. I was questioning... Bob- to quote you "It might provide better performance". Thus my reply... Chilax...Like anybody needs to justify anything to me ever...
  22. Man, for that amount of money you better KNOW...
  23. 15 years in December. She was a pretty face that had suffered benign neglect for over 20 years. Now she is a reliable cross-country machine. I still regret selling my dad's last car a 1990 300ZX...but it was down-payment for the Mooney and was suffering from lack of use like my plane so I hope that car is loved like I love my Mooney.
  24. Skeptics will try anything, including crow, but they don't except that crow is "good" until they taste it themselves...
