  1. I'm excited for you following your new purchase here, I'm confident it's a good one. A Mooney is a very 'simple' complex airplane that some have even learned how to fly in, but please slow down and reconsider this plan. There must be an experienced Mooney ferry pilot in Canada that could complete the run-in, have Clarence or Ron do a good once over, and then fly the airplane home for you? Riding along with a CFI on a cross-country will get you nothing towards Mooney transition but some pretty pictures of the countryside.
  2. 160# is plenty for a mid-body model
  3. This solves all exhaust install clearance problems, for experimental airplanes only of course.
  4. An O2 sensor is going to have a very short life in a leaded environment
  5. Well Mooniacs, this one is getting saved. The airplane is light on the controls and an absolute joy to fly, today's work is done and it is now at the paint shop waiting it's turn. A huge shout out to Tim and his crew at T&T over there at Outlaw Field. If you ever need anything in the Nashville area, he is definitely the go to guy. Thank you to @AKEllsworth for reaching out to me for the ferry flight and trusting me with his new project plane, I can't wait to see it with the new coat of paint. It is so exciting to see these airplanes in good hands.
  6. And I should have started with a congratulations, that's a sweet ride!
  7. Talk to the guy that built it, better yet, meet him in person when you go to pick the airplane up and discuss his recommended break-in procedure. Ron Poelstra is not your average guy putting re-manufactured parts back together to form an engine, this guy is top notch. He may have even run it on his test stand for a few hours before it went back on the airplane.
  8. Enough said, as a very satisfied customer I can assure you all this a good one.
  9. Yes, after my run up and mag check I extend and retract the flaps (hydraulic) as part of the control check.
  10. I am interested in Parker’s feedback on this topic as well. Ferrying Mooneys around I have submitted my flight experience to several agents and there seems to be different interpretations. For example, most seem to be more broad and consider make/model to be Mooney and type ‘M20P’ and occasionally some consider it to be Mooney M20 and a specific model letter (C, G, E, F, J, etc). But I haven’t been turned down by a company yet, lately they are more interested in collecting additional money for a waiver of subrogation.
  11. Even my dog knows that there will be no puking in the airplane
  12. Thought of another one, that little air scoop that flips out of the window. It’s like $35 bucks and down here in the South it is a must have year round.
  13. Sorry, I should have specified GPS.
  14. Avidyne For the money spent it was the best value of anything I’ve purchased for the Mooney. And in airplane economics, compared to that thing out front that eats lifters, makes noise and burns gas, I’d say it’s a pretty reasonable upgrade
  15. Alfredo, that's a clean Mooney! If you are considering the conversion to electric gear, I still have all the electric gear components removed from my M20F when I converted it back to J-bar.
  16. I believe most ‘wrinkles’ in a Mooney firewall are the result of previous repairs and tools. I’ve heard many mechanics point out wrinkles on a Mooney firewall like it’s a Cessna that had a hard landing, but that’s not how a Mooney is built. I’d like to see the pictures of this
  17. In my experience with Surefly, it does not need a new harness, fine wire plugs or twice the gap as a magneto. I guess I'm one of the lucky ones that installed the gear, timed it without issue, did not mess around with cap/wires and spark plugs and has experienced no operational issues since install.
  18. Yep, and try getting behind the panel of a Baron. Taking the seats out doesn't help much because there isn't a flat floor, just a hump with seat rails to jab you in the back. It makes working on a Mooney a dream in comparison.
  19. p51p28, I have a ‘67 M20F and would be happy to meet up with you. I’ll send you a PM with my contact info. -Joe
  20. Listen to your inner voice, sounds sketchy
  21. I still have all the electric gear components that were removed from my F when I converted it back to johnson bar, $2500 for everything and you'll have all the spare parts you could ever need!
  22. I believe Wes is also looking specifically for a CFI/Ferry pilot
  23. I'd like to see the 'Mark site read' button on the top right next to the 'Unread content', but otherwise I think the site is great!
  24. Hi Cogboxer, As I'm sure you know the camping spots are first come, first serve. If you sign up for their text message updates (which I'd recommend), you will get arrival, campground and weather information. Tough to say if spots will be available when you arrive but I think you'll be ok. Thursday AM is a big turnover, the people that arrived earlier in the week stay for the Wednesday night show then pack up Thursday AM, and if the weather is favorable there will be a flow of new people to fill those spots so the place is always busy. I'll be camping with my airplane in the Vintage area and hosting a table in the Vintage Hangar for the Culver Cadet, should be arriving Saturday or Sunday. I'll keep an eye out for you and other fellow Mooneyspacers! Oh, and the judging, they will encourage you to participate no matter what condition your airplane is in.
  25. Please offer these for sale, I'd really like a set for mine!
